On 14 April 2019, episode 20 of Nut Ferment took place at Scena Ciśnień in Wrocław’s Capitol Musical Theatre. Konrad Imiela hosted the meeting, with live performances interspersed with conversation.

Each guest performed songs from their own repertoire and interpreted a piece associated with another participant. Passing songs between the artists brought different voices, instruments and approaches to the same stage.

Funky Kleks

Funky Kleks is the project of Wrocław bassist Wojciech Bergander, built around new arrangements of songs from the Pan Kleks films. It invited listeners to hear these compositions beyond their childhood associations. Its funk approach met the songs of Ralph Kaminski and Robert Cichy.

The set included “Kaczka dziwaczka” and “Księżyc raz odwiedził staw”. The exchange added “Jan”, from the repertoire of Ralph Kaminski i Bartek Wąsik.

Ralph Kaminski i Bartek Wąsik

Singer, songwriter and composer Ralph Kaminski appeared with pianist Bartek Wąsik. By this 2019 performance he had received distinctions at Fama and Carpathia and won the Stage Song Review’s interpretation competition. The duo brought an intimate voice-and-piano setting to the programme.

The set included “Los” and “Morze”. The exchange added “Smack”, from the repertoire of Robert Cichy.

Robert Cichy

Guitarist, singer, composer and producer Robert Cichy received a 2019 Fryderyk in the country and blues category for “Smack”. He had appeared alongside Marcelina in the third episode. Here he returned under his own name, in a duo with drums.

The set included “Breaking Bad” and “Three Sheets to the Wind”. The exchange added “Zaklęcie Doktora Paj Chi Wo”, from the repertoire of Funky Kleks.
