Kari at City Sounds: “Wounds and Bruises” with British musicians and original pop

On “Wounds and Bruises”, Kari Amirian uses wounds and bruises as a metaphor for the experiences that shape a person. The City Sounds concert preview announced a premiere performance of the material alongside British musicians.

Songs from Kari Amirian’s new album “Wounds and Bruises”, performed with British musicians, premiere on the City Sounds stage on 24 November!

Kari Amirian is a producer, singer-songwriter and experimenter often compared to Scandinavian artists. She is one of the few Polish singers who creates pop music while avoiding stereotypical predictability.

Journalists recognised her as one of the most important debut artists of 2012, leading to the main HIRO magazine award for 2012 and a Fryderyk nomination for Debut of the Year.

Critics and fans place her alongside artists such as Feist, Bat For Lashes, Lykke Li, Stina Nordenstam and Fever Ray. Her charisma and stage expression often bring Björk to mind.

The artist has played many concerts across Poland, including at major festivals such as Heineken Open’er Festival, Free Form Festival, Męskie Granie, Slot Art Festival, Malta Festival and many others.

After releasing her debut, “Daddy Says I’m Special” (Nextpop/EMI), Kari did not rest on her laurels. Over the past year, she sought inspiration in Britain, where she created an entirely new project with producer Jon Headley. Having her songs broadcast and performing live on BBC radio was a major success.

The forthcoming album “Wounds and Bruises” is scheduled by Nextpop for release in December 2013. This bold, mature record takes its title from life experiences that strengthen us and inspire change. The album is a statement of the artist's extraordinary passion and inner strength. The “wounds and bruises” of the title symbolise experiences that form an integral part of our personalities, giving us strength and shaping our character.

Kari’s second album also features intelligent, original English lyrics, excellent arrangements and sound production, distinctive artwork and a host of outstanding musicians from the UK.

The concert will feature the following line-up:

Kari – vocals, piano, live electronics

David Chatziliadis – guitar

Jon Headley – keys

Chris Headley – bass

John Pullan – drums

Wooom – visuals
