Kamp! and Rebeka at Eter: Polish electronica and experimental pop in one concert
Kamp! and Rebeka were announced for a shared Eter concert as two distinct voices in Polish electronics. The article introduces Kamp!’s sound alongside “Hellada” by Iwona Skwarek and Bartek Szczęsny, whose duo pairs synthesisers with experimental pop.

14 November 2013 is a date for every electronic music fan to remember. Two acts who are not merely worth seeing but essential viewing will appear at Wrocław's Eter: KAMP!, described without exaggeration as the finest band playing electronica, and Rebeka, a duo mixing electronic music in its broadest sense with experimental pop.
KAMP!
They are described as a phenomenon on the Polish music scene. They have existed for around five years, but truly came to prominence last November, when Brennnessel Records released their first LP, simply titled “Kamp!”. Music journalists from major websites and leading newspapers not only noticed the album but showered the band with compliments. Wprost wrote that “Their debut delights”, Onet.pl that “This debut was worth waiting for”, while Przekrój concluded succinctly: “World. Class.” Ordinary listeners were equally impressed, greeting the record with such interest that the initial pressing had to be increased by several thousand copies within just a couple of weeks.
Releasing “Kamp!” was one of the group’s most important milestones, but they had already won listeners’ and the industry’s recognition through various productions, not necessarily their own. They remixed artists including Indigo Tree, Thieves Like Us, Appaloosa, Twilite, Shindu, Monika Brodka and Cool Kids Of Death. Working with Monika Brodka proved particularly fruitful. KAMP! remixed “Dancing Shoes”, and the remix, rather than the original recording as is usually the case, became one of the singles promoting her “LAX” EP. Shortly after publication, the video had been watched by over 150,000 people.

Every KAMP! performance is a special event, full of surprising “plot twists” in which varied inspirations play an important role. On the tour that includes the Wrocław concert, the band is promoting its new material.
REBEKA
The second guest at this musical evening at Eter is the duo Rebeka. Initially a solo project by Iwona Skwarek, a singer associated with Hellow Dog, it became a duo when she joined forces with producer Bartek Szczęsny in 2010, establishing the current line-up. It did not take long to confirm that this had been the right decision.
The duo’s first single, “Fail”, received radio airplay immediately after release and even became Song of the Week on Radio Three. Their next single, “Stars”, also attracted interest and a warm reception, demonstrated by the video’s viewing figures: over 20,000 people watched within less than 48 hours, rising to more than 100,000 views over several months. Invitations to further festivals and club concerts confirmed their success. Like KAMP!, Rebeka had the opportunity to play The Great Escape in Brighton, Selector in Kraków and Heineken Open’er Festival, among others.
This May, Brennnessel Records released the duo's debut, “Hellada”: outstanding and surprising, considered by Onet worthy of being called one of the most important releases in Polish electronic music history. There is indeed considerable truth in that statement.
If you have not yet discovered Rebeka, be sure to catch up, preferably live at Eter. All the more so as this will be one of the concerts on the duo's first major tour since releasing their debut.
