Guitar Guinness World Record 2019: guitarists play Jimi Hendrix’s “Hey Joe” together
As tradition dictates, we meet in Wrocław on 1 May for another attempt at the Guitar Guinness World Record, now a hallmark of Wrocław across Europe and worldwide. This year, we will play for the seventeenth time. Last year’s record stands at 7,411 guitarists playing Jimi Hendrix’s immortal “Hey Joe” together! We know that, with your help, we can do more. If every group persuades just one more person to join the shared performance in Wrocław, we will make history again.
IN 2018, 7411 GUITARS PLAYED TOGETHER, AND THIS IS OUR OFFICIAL RECORD!
To play in the Guinness Guitar Record, you only need a guitar and five basic chords, C/G/D/A/E, required for Jimi Hendrix's “Hey Joe”. This year, we would also like you to play the other songs performed in previous years.
The guitar event begins in Wrocław's Market Square at 10:00. During it, you will hear concerts by invited guitar stars and play the prepared songs together with others. Registration for Record participants also opens then.
Participant registration closes at 15:45. At exactly 16:00, we begin the OFFICIAL ATTEMPT to set a new GUITAR GUINNESS WORLD RECORD, A.D. 2019!
PARTICIPATION IN THE GUITAR GUINNESS WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT IS FREE!
All types of guitar count towards the record. Other stringed instruments are welcome too: ukuleles, mandolins, banjos and balalaikas. A special area with power access for amplifiers will be provided for electric guitarists; bringing an extension lead with multiple sockets is recommended.
You need not be an adult to play with us. At 17:00, the Concert of Stars accompanying this year’s record begins, with a detailed programme coming soon. It takes place at the Centennial Hall and Pergola complex, ul. Wystawowa 1. Participating guitarists receive ticket discounts, available during registration. Special public transport will connect the Market Square record-attempt location and the Pergola.
See you in Wrocław on 1 May 2019!
