Guitar Guinness World Record 2015: “Hey Joe” together and the Concert of Stars at Centennial Hall
Thousands of guitarists are heading to Wrocław! Will a new record be set? To establish a new Guinness Guitar Record, we need 7,345 guitarists to play Jimi Hendrix’s ‘Hey Joe’ together on 1 May.

1 MAY 2015
“Every Guinness Guitar Record participant is worth their weight in gold to us. That is why I warmly invite everyone once again to spend the long May weekend in Wrocław,” says Leszek Cichoński, guitarist and originator of the Guinness Guitar Record.
For the XIII time, Wrocław will attempt to break the world record for simultaneous guitar playing. For the first time, the event will take place in the Centennial Hall and Pergola complex, a favourite with Wrocław residents and tourists alike, and home to Poland's largest Multimedia Fountain. Guitarists wishing to take part in the record attempt will begin gathering at ul. Wystawowa 1 from 10.00.
The record attempt is scheduled for 16.00, but the guitar excitement will begin before noon. Special Thanks Jimi Festival guests will warm up the audience and participants, including guitarists from Seven Kings -The Famili of Gipsy Kings, Nigel Kennedy, Uli Jon Roth and members of Nazareth.
For most of the day, the Guitar Guinness World Record’s outdoor stage will be dominated by an excellent contingent of female guitarists, reflecting this year’s festival slogan, GITARA JEST KOBIETĄ. Leading American guitarist Malina Moye and other female guitarists will perform for record participants. All Thanks Jimi Festival outdoor-stage events are free, both for record participants and the audience! There are no age restrictions. You simply need a guitar and the ability to play the 5 straightforward chords of the iconic Hey Joe. Wrocław’s public transport will carry all guitarists free!
Another special event that day is the Concert of Stars at Centennial Hall, featuring the world's finest violinist Nigel Kennedy, Nazareth and Polish audience favourites IRA. Record participants can buy discounted tickets at the symbolic price of 30 zł.
After the ticketed part of the festival, audiences will return to the outdoor stage, where a free performance by guitar masters Seven Kings, from the legendary GIPSY KINGS family, begins at 21.00. To close a day full of musical experiences, the organisers have also prepared a special multimedia fountain show, starting at around 22:00.
Anyone wishing to extend the festival atmosphere into the following days of the May holiday weekend should stay in Wrocław for the rock festival 3-MAJÓWKA. On 2 and 3 May, the performers will be EMIR KUSTURICA & NO SMOKING ORCHESTRA, PIDŻAMA PORNO, COMA, ILLUSION, LUXTORPEDA, BOKKA, FISZ EMADE TWORZYWO, MELA KOTELUK, DOMOWE MELODIE, KULT, HEY, LAO CHE, HAPPYSAD, ŁĄKI ŁAN, NATALIA PRZYBYSZ, CURLY HEADS, XXANAXX and PINK FREUD.
Expecting thousands of guitar fans in Wrocław, the organisers opened a special campsite near Centennial Hall. The first May weekend is worth spending in Wrocław, a city that will have the honour of becoming European Capital of Culture next year.
We encourage anyone unable to come to Wrocław to join the event online through the webcast on this page. You will also find information there on how to play in the record attempt, along with a detailed programme of events.
