Zingaros New Gypsy Tango with Ariel Ramirez: Argentinian tango and Romani melodies
Zingaros New Gypsy Tango weaves Eastern European Romani melodies together with the nostalgia of Argentine tango. The Ethno Jazz Festival preview at Stary Klasztor announced a shared performance by the trio and bandoneon player Ariel Ramirez in the World Music series.

Ariel Ramirez, the Argentine bandoneon virtuoso who has lived in Wrocław for several years, has invited his musical friends from Argentina, Zingaros New Gypsy Tango, for their only Polish concert. They will perform together on 20 May at Ethno Jazz Festival as part of Muzyka Świata w Starym Klasztorze.
The concert will take place in the atmospheric Gothic interior of the recently opened Stary Klasztor music club at ul. Purkyniego 1, which will increasingly welcome outstanding artists from around the world.
Zingaros New Gypsy Tango’s music blends traditional Eastern European Romani melodies, charged with the euphoria and passion characteristic of these peoples, with the nostalgia and melancholy of tango.
Zingaros’s music is delicate and evocative. Its sounds recall the lives and experiences of Eastern European Roma, combined with the original sound of Argentinian tango.
Songs sung in Russian and Romanian, alongside masterfully performed instrumental pieces, paint a colourful palette of sounds depicting Gypsy tales, encounters around a fire, spring mornings and winter evenings, and the thundering hooves of galloping horses.
All harmoniously combined with the inspiring rhythm of Argentinian tango.
Zingaros New Gypsy Tango comprises Alejandro Montero – guitar, David Macchione – violin and Alexander Garate – accordion.
Ariel Ramirez will make a guest appearance on bandoneon at the Wrocław concert.
