Republika’s “Nowe sytuacje” at wROCK for Freedom with Rogucki, Tymański and Budyń

Republika’s original members, joined by singers Piotr Rogucki, Tymon Tymański and Jacek Szymkiewicz, will present their legendary album ‘Nowe Sytuacje’ in Wrocław at wROCK for Freedom 2014!

As tradition has it, the event takes place on 30 August at the bus depot on ul. Grabiszyńska, where Wrocław’s Solidarity movement was born in August 1980.

2013 marked 30 years since the release of Republika's “Nowe Sytuacje”. The 1983 debut was a huge success and left a clear mark on Polish rock music. Its songs, including “Arktyka”, “Śmierć w bikini”, “Halucynacje” and “Znak równości”, instantly became generational anthems, without losing any of their freshness.

Thanks to a carefully conceived, consistent image, the famous black-and-white stripes, modern, original music and Grzegorz Ciechowski's Orwellian lyrics, the band remained in audiences' consciousness for many years. The approach they created, combining an austere form of expression with poignant lyrics, remains electrifying today.

Former Republika musicians decided to revisit this album for audiences. It is not a Republika reunion, merely a meeting to present and recall the record, particularly for younger listeners who know Republika only through recordings rather than concerts.

The live performance of “Nowe Sytuacje” will recreate every song on the album from beginning to end, in the original arrangements and in the way Republika played them in the 1980s. Alongside original Republika members Sławomir Ciesielski, Zbigniew Krzywański and Leszek Biolik, Bartłomiej Gasiul will play piano. Piotr Rogucki, Tymon Tymański and Jacek “Budyń” Szymkiewicz will sing, with Szymkiewicz also performing the flute parts.

Wrocław's wROCK for Freedom has become one of Poland's most important events closing the summer outdoor concert season, with its stars always guaranteeing a full house and a fantastic time. The legendary The Blues Brothers Band and tireless blues champion Irek Dudek, performing as Shakin’ Dudi, have already confirmed their participation in wROCK for Freedom 2014.
