Wee Dub Festival 2012: Mad Professor, Zion Train and reggae across five Edinburgh stages
Wee Dub Festival 2012 announced five stages in central Edinburgh, bringing reggae together with different forms of dub. The programme featuring Mad Professor and Zion Train was complemented by films, dance, “Dub Clinic” workshops and children’s activities.

Wee Dub Festival returns to Edinburgh on the first weekend of February 2012. Following a successful first edition in January 2011, we decided to continue the event, expanding both its format and duration. Five stages in the heart of Scotland's fairy-tale capital will host fifteen acts performed by almost fifty artists!
We begin on Friday 3 February with a late-night event at Wee Red Bar. The festival's first guests, Celt Islam, Morphy and Jammin J, will play live fusions of dub, dubstep, worldbeat and d'n'b. The stage will also welcome the wonderful Barocco Tribal dancers, presenting fusion belly dancing.
Saturday will also bring plenty of surprises. The late-night stage at The Store will welcome UK dub-electronica pioneers Zion Train Sound System and well-known Polish dubstep producer Radikal Guru with Cian Finn, supported by local crew Riddim Tuffa Sound. That evening, The Bongo Club will also host seven-piece Bristol band Dub Mafia and excellent, sweet riddims from Captain Slackship’s Mezzanine Allstars.
One of the guests invited to our festival is world-class dub producer Mad Professor, who will perform on the final evening, Sunday, with Scotland's flagship sound system Mungos Hi Fi at The Bongo Club. This event will be preceded by a concert by Glasgow ska band Esperanza and the Lucky 7 crew at The Third Door.
Various creative activities are also planned during the festival. Dub enthusiasts will be able to attend Mad Professor’s “Dub Clinic” workshop at The Bongo Club, while dance lovers can join classes led by Barocco Tribal dancers. A welcome addition to the event at The Out Of The Blue is a programme of films about dub culture and a children’s “Sound Station”, where youngsters can explore electronic devices used to produce and mix music first-hand. A speaker-building demonstration is also planned. There will also be a dreadlock-making workshop and face painting, with vegetarian food adding flavour to the whole experience.
