RAM Session vol. 5: Night Marks Electric Trio and Yuuki at the Radio Drama Studio
Night Marks Electric Trio and Yuuki meet in the fifth edition of the RAM Session radio series. The announced joint performance by the Wrocław groups in the Radio Drama Studio connected soul heritage, hip-hop and contemporary electronics.
This time, Radio RAM’s concert series presents a special event: two Wrocław bands will join forces for a shared performance in the radio drama studio.
This time, two groups will perform in the Radio Drama Studio: Night Marks Electric Trio and Yuuki.
NMET are an original trio combining hip-hop with soul heritage and contemporary electronic sounds. The band have just finished work on their debut album. Night Marks Electric Trio have been appearing on club stages for several years. Their achievements include remixes of Envee’s “Love Theories” and Robert Glasper’s “Move Love”, the latter taking an impressive 5th place in an international competition organised by legendary label Blue Note. They also made a guest appearance on En2ak’s album, on the phenomenal “Trust Bust”.
Night Marks also contributed to “Niewidzialna Nerka”, an important project in which younger musicians paid tribute to the pioneering days of Polish hip-hop culture. The double album was promoted by DJ 600V's “Dźwięki stereo”, remixed by Night Marks Electric Trio.
Night Marks Electric Trio's long-awaited EP will be released this June by U Know Me Records. Its singles are “Glorious Tune”, recorded with American rapper Raashan Ahmad, and “Leki”. At the same time, Paulina and Natalia Przybysz have invited the NMET musicians to work on a joint project called Archeo.
Another performer at May's RAM Session will be Yuuki. Their music is described as a combination of electronica, folk and trance-like groove. Last autumn, the band released their first single/video, “Myśli ust”; another production, “History”, arrives in a few days.
The band comprises singer Katarzyna Wypchło, musician and producer Marek Pędziwiatr, and bassist Adam Kabaciński, a graduate of the Jazz Department at the Academy of Music in Katowice.
The list of Polish and international artists and groups Wypchło, Pędziwiatr and Kabaciński have worked or continue working with is impressive. It includes Paulina and Natalia Przybysz, Grażyna Łobaszewska, Krystyna Prońko, Andrzej Smolik, Abradab, LUC, Natalia Lubrano and Kasia Mirowska, as well as Raashan Ahmad, Jeru The Damaja, El Muso, Jesse Boykins III, Coultrain, Szczecin’s Teatr Pleciuga and Szczecin Gospel Choir. Interestingly, Marek Pędziwiatr of Night Marks Electric Trio also co-created Yuuki, a connection between both our RAM Session performers.
