Przystanek Woodstock 2013: three days in Kostrzyn and reggae from Soldiers of Jah Army

As every year, brilliant artists will take the stage, the festival grounds will be packed with attractions and Kostrzyn's fields will fill with rock music fans! This year, LIONSTAGE will again support the festival's organisation and have the pleasure of working with bands including SOJA and Third World.

SUPPORTING THE FESTIVAL ORGANISATION AS ALWAYS

Przystanek Woodstock 2013 is fast approaching. From 1 to 3 August, Kostrzyn nad Odrą will become the concert centre of our country.

Soldiers Of Jah Army, the band’s full name, come from the USA. Founded by singer Jacob Hemphill and bassist Bob Jefferson, they will perform on the third day of this year’s Przystanek Woodstock. Melodic songs sharpened with rock elements and coloured by blues are now their trademark. Growing more popular worldwide each year, they have won fans’ hearts with acclaimed records, currently numbering 6. Their latest, “Strength to Survive”, appeared on 31 January 2012.

Their work highlights important global issues. Conscious messages and excellent arrangements make SOJA one of American reggae’s brightest names. Tours alongside reggae heavyweights Matisyahu, Gentleman and Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley consolidated their position. It is time for the Most Beautiful Festival in the World, taking place as usual in Kostrzyn nad Odrą from 1–3 August this year.

Third World will perform on 2 August during the 19th Przystanek Woodstock. The concert forms part of a tour celebrating the band’s 40th anniversary. The festival will take place from 2–4 August in Kostrzyn nad Odrą. Third World are one of the longest-running reggae bands, performing continuously since 1973. Their sound is inspired by soul and funk, all rooted in reggae. The group have released 20 albums, with their latest, “Patriots”, appearing in 2011. It features many distinguished guests, including Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, Stephen Marley, Gregory Isaacs, Marcia Griffiths, Dean Fraser, Toots Hibbert and Tarrus Riley.

They have received numerous honours, including the New York City Ambassador Award at Brooklyn Academy of Music in November 2009, the United Nations Peace Medal in 1986, Jamaican Music Industry Awards for Best Show in 1992 and 1996, and 10 Grammy nominations

Przystanek Woodstock 2013 will be full of brilliant artists. Main Stage performers include Enter Shikari, Ugly Kid Joe, Mech, Gooral & Mazowsze, These Reigning Days, Leningrad, Big Cyc, Maria Peszek, Kiril Dzajkovski, Ga-Ga/Zielone Żabki and Clock Machine.

This year will also feature a folk stage, where we will hear bands such as Labirytm, Cała Góra Barwinków, Teuta, Kal Band, Noezbiljni Pesimisti, Tabu, Artur Andrus with his band, Kozak System, Curcuma, Skowyt, Hope and many others!
