Another edition of the most beautiful festival in the world awaits! Przystanek Woodstock 2012 takes place from 2 to 4 August.

As usual, several days of fantastic fun, incredible attractions and meetings with brilliant people await. This year, we have the pleasure of working with Damian Marley, Shantel and Asian Dub Foundation, among others. All of it, as tradition dictates, in Kostrzyn nad Odrą!

On 2 August, one of Poland’s most eagerly awaited reggae artists will take to the stage: Damian Marley, youngest son of the legendary Bob Marley, Superheavy member and Grammy winner! Damian remains devoted to Rastafari philosophy, expressing it through music filled with the ideals of one love, one planet, and freedom and equality for everyone. He also has a unique ability to describe the world around him, as his lyrics demonstrate. He is undoubtedly a contemporary ambassador for reggae worldwide and one of the younger generation’s brightest stars. His studio collaborations and shared concerts with hip-hop heavyweights have also made him a bridge between reggae and hip-hop.

Following the acclaimed “Distant Relatives” with legendary New York rapper Nas and participation in star project Superheavy, also featuring Mick Jagger, Joss Stone and Dave Stewart, Damian Marley is working on his fourth solo album, scheduled for release this year. Between recording sessions, he will visit Poland for his first entirely solo concert here. Eagerly awaited by Polish reggae lovers, this performance belongs in every music fan’s diary!

SHANTEL & Bucovina Club Orkestar are another strong point in Przystanek Woodstock 2012’s line-up. Balkan sounds and klezmer feeling describe Shantel’s work. Hits “Bucovina”, “Disko Partizani”, “Disko Boy” and “Citizen of Planet Paprika” made him famous beyond his native Germany throughout Europe, including Turkey, where he became a pop-cultural icon. His vision is simple: pan-European music with worldwide potential.

Everything seems on track, with Shantel regularly visiting countries worldwide. A cosmopolitan sound explorer, he is always open to fresh experiences and emotions for his mix. From the beginning, he rejected major media and flashing cameras, focusing on music that spread online to millions of YouTube plays. This year, he releases “Anarchy & Romance” and appears at the world’s most beautiful festival on 3 August!

Britain’s Asian Dub Foundation also visit Przystanek Woodstock 2012. Combining drum ’n’ bass, reggae, jungle and dub with traditional Indian sounds, they perform on the Main Stage on 3 August. Material includes their latest album, 2011’s “A History Of Now”. Their songs contain influences from classical Indian music, dub, drum ’n’ bass, reggae, ragga, hip-hop and rap, alongside soul, rock, electronics and techno.

The band’s lyrics primarily address sociopolitical subjects including racism, emigration, economic crisis, dependence on media and the internet, and religious conflict. Asian Dub Foundation’s songs are distinguished by extraordinarily dynamic vocals, both sung and rapped. They have more than a dozen albums to their name, the latest, “A History Of Now”, released last year. For years, they have been known for uncompromising attitudes, radical views and artistic aggression. Przystanek Woodstock audiences will certainly catch the activist energy radiating from Asian Dub Foundation.

This year’s stage will also welcome Machine Head, The Darkness, Sabaton, Anti-Flag, Hardcore Superstar, happysad, The Analogs, Carrantuohill and My Riot, among others.

As every year, Przystanek Woodstock offers much more than concerts. Festivalgoers can enjoy brilliant attractions, extensive food areas and a tent hosting talks by some of Poland’s most distinguished artists, commentators and politicians. Remember that admission to the festival is free as usual, and that sanitary facilities have again been prepared beside the campsites. There are no excuses for missing Kostrzyn nad Odrą and Przystanek Woodstock 2012!
