Przystanek Woodstock 2011: reggae from Gentleman and Jahcoustix in collaboration with LIONSTAGE
It is time for Przystanek Woodstock 2011! As every year, we will meet in Kostrzyn nad Odrą to hear the finest music and gather at the most beautiful festival in the world.
Working with Gentleman and Jahcoustix’s bands
From 4–6 August, all the Woodstock stages will welcome incredible artists you cannot miss! This year, we will have the opportunity to work with acts including Jahcoustix and Gentleman!
Gentleman is undoubtedly Europe’s most popular and respected reggae performer. His career spans more than 20 years, with enormous popularity built on both records and fantastic concerts. He sings in English or patois, the Creole dialect used in Jamaica, where he took his first steps on stage. He sings about peace, love, hope and the reality around him. His universal message reaches fans worldwide, and he also has a large, devoted Polish following. His career gained momentum after the release of his debut, “Trodin On” (1999), which caught critics’ attention and generated interest across Europe.
The next album, “Journey to Jah”, consolidated Gentleman's increasingly strong position, and his songs “Dem Gone” and “Leave Us Alone” entered the popular music canon. His concerts are marked by immense positive energy and an incredible atmosphere that has to be experienced!
Jahcoustix will also visit Przystanek Woodstock 2011. Like Gentleman, he comes from Germany, but draws inspiration for his interpretation of reggae from Africa. It all began in Nairobi, Kenya, in 1992, where he discovered the music that gave his life a clear musical direction: roots reggae. Spending most of his youth in African countries, Jahcoustix was fascinated by Africans and their positive outlook despite living in extreme poverty.
There, he first encountered Rastafarians and reggae. After 15 years abroad, he returned to Germany in 1998 and began working with Dubios Neighborhood. Together, they created the debut “Souljahstice” (2003). In 2005, his popularity began spreading beyond Germany, leading to a United States and Canada tour. He has recorded with Shaggy and Vaughn Benjamin of Midnite/Akae Beka, among others. Discover how Jahcoustix interprets his music and magically conveys positive vibrations to live audiences!
Alongside these two brilliant artists, the line-up also includes Luxtorpeda, Materia, Łąki Łan, Helloween, Zebrahead, Heaven Shall Burn, Dog Eat Dog, Riverside and The Prodigy, among others.
This year, it would almost be a crime for any lover of live music to miss Kostrzyn nad Odrą. Przystanek Woodstock 2011: you simply have to be there!
