October Reggae Jam 2007 in Katowice: Ba-lan and Polish sound systems at Mega Klub

20 OCTOBER 2007

Ba-lan are an exceptionally talented male trio straight from the capital. Their sound’s name comes from the Vietnamese word for Poland. Formed in late August and early September 2005, the group contains a full third of the hugely popular reggae band Vavamuffin. Pablopavo handles vocals, Dubbist all kinds of special effects, and Rootsdrivah the music coming from the speakers. You can certainly expect an excellent dose of energy from their performance.

Ras Luta is a member of one of Poland's most recognisable and sought-after sound systems: EastWest Rockers, of course. His distinctive voice keeps fans of Jamaican sounds listening almost without a break. This time, you can see him in another guise thanks to Malik, a selector known and associated above all with SingleDread.

Silesian Sound is a sound system consisting of three singers and four instrumentalists. Active on the Polish scene for 3 years, they have already won a large following with music inspired mainly by reggae, roots, dancehall and funk. In January 2006, they released the “Dancehall” video, which made a considerable impact in the reggae world.

Malik Selecta has been associated with Warsaw sound system SingleDread since 2002, working as selector, visuals specialist and promoter. His selections are sure to get everyone dancing.
