Emir Kusturica & The No Smoking Orchestra: a concert at Wrocław’s 3-Majówka

EMIR KUSTURICA & THE NO SMOKING ORCHESTRA will perform on 2 May at Wrocław's biggest rock festival, 3-Majówka 2015. The previous day, 1 May, Emir Kusturica, also a guitarist, will guest at the GUINNESS GUITAR RECORD, held in Wrocław for 12 years.

Wrocław's now-traditional 3-Majówka opens Poland's outdoor festival season. Each year over the long May holiday weekend, the heart of Wrocław welcomes leading bands from the national popularity charts, veterans of rock stages and new rising stars. Alongside Emir Kusturica, Poland's finest bands have already confirmed their participation in 3-Majówka.

EMIR KUSTURICA & THE NO SMOKING ORCHESTRA is a true phenomenon in anti-globalist music, existing apart from the dogmas of show business.

Their first ten years on stage centred on songs characteristic of “Unza Unza Time”. This was a period of rhythmic, powerful sounds played in 2/4 time, typical of Serbian folk circle dances. It is a Balkan version of rumba that means “there are no two feet in the world that could resist it”.

An “explosive mixture of nitroglycerine sounds” makes it impossible to stay still, whether we are in Paris, Buenos Aires, Tokyo, New York, Kyiv, Reykjavik, Sydney, Tel Aviv, Montreal, Vienna, Moscow, Madrid or… Wrocław!

The No Smoking Orchestra address the world through an energetic stage spectacle whose sound and imagery belong to no single homeland. The artists want audiences to seek its musical roots not in a particular country, but in the feelings and memories awakened by its pulsating sounds.
