A modern artistic phenomenon: such descriptions are reserved for exceptional, versatile people. Remi Kabaka is precisely that: the founder of Gorillaz Sound System, the collective complementing Gorillaz. GSS are renowned for getting parties going. How do they do it? Find out on 29 May at Wrocław's newly opened Stary Klasztor as part of City Sounds.

First there was Gorillaz, a truly unique act, distinctive both in sound and in its visual concept. Soon afterwards came Gorillaz Sound System, a line-up complementing Gorillaz while also thriving as an independent entity. Their blend of DJ virtuosity, live instruments and visuals proved a great success, winning them more and more fans around the world.

Gorillaz Sound System was founded by London-born Remi Kabaka, a man who creates, inspires and offers intriguing ideas, whether sonic or visual. He can be seen drumming with Gorillaz and is the voice of Russell Hobbs, the virtual character from their visuals. He also belongs to Bobby Womack’s band and the Africa Express collective and collaborates with the legendary Banksy. He discovered MIA’s talent and is jointly responsible for DRC Music. As a DJ, he has more than 200 extraordinary events to his name, including an appearance at Britain’s famous Tate Modern.

When an opportunity arises to see such a versatile artist in action, you simply have to take it.
