In January 2004, one of today's greatest producers, ADRIAN SHERWOOD of On-U Sound Records, comes to Poland. He will be accompanied by singer and MC GHETTO PRIEST, Denise Sherwood, Adrian's daughter, on vocals, and Nick Coplowe on front-of-house sound.

Adrian Sherwood:

• In 1980, he founded the still-active On-U Sound label, regarded to this day as one of Britain's most influential and progressive reggae and dub labels.

• He is responsible for the success and sound of groups including Tackhead, Dub Syndicate, African Head Charge and Audio Active.

• The list of artists he has worked with includes such legendary reggae names as Lee Scratch Perry, Sly & Robbie, Twinkle Brothers, Misty In Roots and Prince Far I, alongside names from music more broadly: Primal Scream (the dub album “Echo Dek”), Depeche Mode, Ministry, The Fall, Simple Red, Cabaret Voltaire, Sinead O’Connor, KFDM and The Cure.

• This is his third visit to Poland. He first came with Gary Clail and Mark Stewart as sound engineer for Reggae Is King in Poznań in 1986, then played three events with On-U Sound System in 1999.

• His work with Poland includes mixes of tracks by the legendary Twinkle Brothers + Trebunie Tutki project and Mamadou Diouf’s solo work.

• He co-founded Little Axe, the first dub-blues band in history.

• He produced Asian Dub Foundation’s latest album, “Enemy Of The Enemy”.

• In 2003, he released his first solo album, “Never Trust a Hippie”, on Peter Gabriel's Real World Records. It has sold more than 40,000 copies to date.

• His sound system supported numerous Massive Attack, Blur and Asian Dub Foundation concerts in Europe in 2003.

Probably no other sound system has ever performed before such a large audience.

• He will perform in Poland for the first time with Ghetto Priest, a black singer who previously worked with African Head Charge. In 2003, On-U Sound Records released their collaborative album “Vulture Culture”.

• Adrian Sherwood is renowned for extraordinary live mixing skills, and his use of the mixing desk as a creative instrument, together with his musical imagination, is unmatched.

Ghetto Priest:

Once a football hooligan with military experience, then a robber and prisoner, he eventually decided to change his life for the better and became a true Rasta. GHETTO PRIEST has for some time been known as a member of the ON-U SOUND family and collective. He first spent many years in AFRICAN HEAD CHARGE's live line-up and now performs as MC for Adrian Sherwood's sound system.

Recognised as an outstanding singer, GHETTO PRIEST was invited by ASIAN DUB FOUNDATION to record vocals for the opening track of their latest album, ‘Enemy Of The Enemy’, released this year.

Artists of varying degrees of fame, including The Underwolves, Sinead O'connor, Groove Armada, James Hardway and Little Axe, have taken the opportunity to add extra flavour to their releases by using his voice. After contributing one of his own tracks to the compilation “On-U Sound Presents Chainstore Massacre” (CD/2xLP EFA 68202), it was time for the next step, and his full-length debut album is now available. The record offers 60 minutes of listening and dancing in a world of dub and reggae with socially engaged lyrics. “Vulture Culture” features 12 compositions with guest appearances by vocalists including Simon Bogle, Ri Ra and Junior Delgado, a sampled Prince Far I, and Carlton 'Bubblers' Ogilvie (2Badcard). You will also hear Denise, Adrian Sherwood’s daughter, and Omar, the son of Lee Scratch Perry!

Carlton “Bubblers” Ogilvie handles drums, bass and piano on most tracks. Skip McDonald supplies guitar parts on five numbers; Jamaican friends Sly & Robbie, Jazzwad and Style Scott also display their skills, while Creation Rebel's Crucial Tony and Asian Dub Foundation's Dr. Das add their contributions on guitar and bass.
