The 25th WOŚP Grand Finale in Wrocław: three days of concerts and support at Stary Klasztor

The programme announced for Wrocław’s 25th WOŚP Grand Finale brought together three days of concerts and fundraising for children and older people. Malanka, sea shanties, rock and guitar hits offered different musical paths at Stary Klasztor, Stara Piwnica and the outdoor stage on Nowy Targ.

Wrocław's 25th WOŚP Finale takes place on 15 January, and as tradition dictates, we are responsible for organising the local edition of this wonderful event. This year, Finale day will feature two stages: one outdoors on Plac Nowy Targ and the other in Stary Klasztor's Gothic Hall

Three days of fun for the noblest cause!

The Finale is not just one day, however. We actually begin playing with the Orchestra on 13 January! The legendary Antykabaret will appear at Stary Klasztor. Meanwhile, Stara Piwnica will host leading names from Wrocław's sea-shanty scene and beyond, including Gdańska Formacja Szantowa, Za Horyzontem and W Stronę Portu.

On 14 January, we celebrate Małanka, the Eastern New Year’s Eve. It is the perfect chance to experience two New Year celebrations two weeks apart: one following the Gregorian calendar and our Orchestra celebration following the Julian. Tens of thousands of eastern neighbours live in Wrocław, Poland’s most open city, making this an excellent opportunity to meet and celebrate together. Ukrainian stars Luiku and Familia Perkalaba and Serbia’s excellent Neozbiljni pesimisti will headline!

That day, we also invite fans of heavier sounds to Stara Piwnica. The hours-long event will feature excellent Szczecin band Chorzy, absolute Polish punk rock legends Ga Ga/Zielone Żabki, energetic Silesian act Wiewiórka na Drzewie, combining Spanish rhythms, rock, reggae and ska, and Wrocław's Non Stop.

Another day full of attractions awaits us on 15 January. At Nowy Targ, you will find catering stalls, hot drinks and food trucks. The youngest visitors in particular can look forward to numerous attractions, with plenty of surprises prepared by the organisers. We will open the Nowy Targ stage with folk sounds from Carrantuohill accompanied by Salake. Next, Foliba will introduce us to African rhythms. There will also be something for fans of heavier music, courtesy of hard-rock band Strain. Other performers include the funky Clock Machine crew; Nikola Warda, a star of “Bitwa Na Głosy”, “Mam Talent” and “Szansa Na Sukces”; Chorzy from Szczecin; and rock band Cochise, led by actor Paweł Małaszyński.

At Stary Klasztor, the Gitarowe Przeboje Wszech Czasów event awaits, with performances by the well-known, exceptionally talented singers Paulina Lenda, Marta Kołodziejczyk, Natalia Lubrano and Ania Kłys. We will also enjoy heavy-folk rhythms from Poland’s legendary exponents of the genre, Percival. Dancehall fans will find something for themselves too, as Bob One and Bas Tajpan get us warmed up for dancing. The incredible November Project, in which most musicians have disabilities, is also well worth seeing. A performance by the revolutionary all-female folk group Same Suki will crown this eventful night.

This year’s WOŚP Grand Finale aims to raise funds to buy medical equipment for paediatric wards. Money will also go towards providing dignified medical care for older people.

Three days of fun for the worthiest of causes. The Orchestra's success belongs to everyone who wants to help, donating both on collection day, 15 January, and throughout the Foundation's year-round activities. Before every Finale, the tireless Jurek Owsiak utters his magic words: “Oh, there's going to be a lot happening!” In Wrocław this year, there really will be a great deal happening!
