“WROCŁAW DZIĘKUJE” – AN EXTRAORDINARY CONCERT HAS TAKEN PLACE!

Wrocław thanked its heroes! On 4 October, the special “Wrocław dziękuje” concert in the Market Square brought together residents, artists and emergency-service representatives. It expressed gratitude for defending the city against flooding and supported those affected by the disaster. Performers included Maria Sadowska and Adrian Łabanowski, and the entire concert ended with a moving shared rendition of “Moja i twoja nadzieja”. This evening of emotion, solidarity and hope will remain in participants’ hearts for a long time.

WROCŁAW’S HEARTS BEAT TO THE RHYTHM OF GRATITUDE

On 4 October, Wrocław's Market Square hosted the unforgettable “Wrocław dziękuje” concert. This special event honoured the heroes who devoted themselves to defending the city from the flood wave and supported residents of regions affected by the disaster. Wrocław's hearts beat with gratitude for those who spared no effort to protect the city.

After weeks of intense struggle against the elements, the concert paid tribute to the emergency services and Wrocław's residents. Agata Dzikowska, director of the City Office's Social Communication Department, stressed: “It was a special evening when we wanted to say ‘thank you’ to everyone who supported the flood-response efforts with such dedication. It was also an opportunity to help together those who have lost everything they worked for.”

Representatives of various emergency services took the stage: firefighters, police officers, professional soldiers and Territorial Defence Force members. Each shared stories and described the behind-the-scenes struggle against the water. Their accounts were full of moving moments, revealing the enormous dedication required to protect Wrocław from the effects of the elements.

During the concert, the organisers made live connections with the mayors of Lądek-Zdrój, Kłodzko and Stronie Śląskie to find out about the most pressing needs of residents in those towns. This helped those gathered to better understand the scale of the challenges facing the affected communities.

The event also had an exceptional musical setting, curated by the concert's artistic director, Mariusz Dziubek. Well-known artists, including Maria Sadowska and Adrian Łabanowski, filled the Market Square with emotionally charged sounds. Audiences heard both energetic and more nostalgic songs, perfectly capturing the mood of the evening: a mixture of gratitude, hope and reflection.

The concert closed with a special a cappella performance of the much-loved “Moja i twoja nadzieja”. Eight-year-old Matylda from Jagodno sang the song, joined by everyone gathered in the Market Square. The chorus of audience members and artists carried its message: “nothing, truly nothing will help unless you help love today”. It was a moving finale to an evening that will live long in the participants’ memories.

During the concert, funds were collected for the three municipalities worst affected by flooding: Lądek-Zdrój, Kłodzko and Stronie Śląskie. Participants' generosity raised a substantial sum, which will be transferred to these towns' accounts to support infrastructure reconstruction and help residents.

How else can you help?

If you could not attend the concert, you can still support those affected. The City of Wrocław has opened a dedicated account to receive donations:

Account number: 37 1020 5226 0000 6202 0866 9659

Every donation, however small, will help improve the situation of people still struggling with the effects of the floods.

Visit safe corners of the Kłodzko region

Although flooding affected part of the region, other Lower Silesian towns are safe and waiting for tourists. The concert organisers encourage visits to the Kłodzko region, supporting local communities through tourism too. Your presence will help businesses return to normality and support the local economy.

The concert was organised by Wrocław City Council, with LIONSTAGE providing organisational and production support free of charge.
