WROCŁAW FOR NEPAL – A CHARITY CONCERT

On Friday 19 June, Wrocław's Stary Klasztor will host the charity concert “Wrocław for Nepal”. Proceeds will go towards helping residents of the Langtang Valley, affected by a devastating earthquake.

19 JUNE 2015

The disaster killed 185 people and completely destroyed the village. Survivors are living in appalling conditions in a camp near Kathmandu. They have lost all their possessions, homes and sources of income, and face the threat of disease and the approaching rainy season. Because not all the victims' bodies have yet been recovered, they cannot even bury their loved ones.

The people of Langtang need support and solidarity. Wrocław will not let them down. Performing in the Gothic Hall:

-Aviaries, a Wrocław band inspired by new wave and synth-pop
-coldwave act Hyoscyamus Niger
-Wrocław industrial legends Job Karma
-Loser from Space, a musical project by Tomek Orszulak, Arek Olak and Marcel Arp
-Wrocław new-wave band Nacht und Nebel
-“The Night” tribute to Morphine, a tribute project honouring the cult American band

After the concert, a party in the downstairs room will feature Roots Controla Sound System. Tickets, serving as a charitable contribution, cost PLN 20. All concert proceeds will go to the Langtang community.

Residents need money, among other things, to find and bury those killed in the disaster and dig out what remains of their belongings. The road to the village is blocked by debris and still poses a potential danger to anyone trying to reach it. When returning home becomes possible, the money raised will help rebuild the village and workplaces.
