The Herbaliser at City Sounds: London jazz, funk and hip-hop with a live band

On 13 May, City Sounds welcomes The Herbaliser. Following the cancellation of the British act’s tour last year, this will be their first concert in Poland for several years!

The Herbaliser's core consists of two Londoners, Jake Wherry and Ollie Teeba, creators of excellent, exuberant productions at the intersection of jazz, funk and hip-hop. For years, the band recorded in various line-ups for the cult Ninja Tune label, moving in 2008 to the equally respected !K7 Records.

Their first instrument was… the studio. Passionate vinyl collectors Jake and Ollie began using the latest sampling techniques, with guitar parts merely complementing their sound. Rappers and singers gradually joined, and eventually The Herbaliser became a full live band with expanded string and horn sections. DJ Malachi and Easy Access Orchestra musicians Ralph Lamb and Andy Ross thus became permanent members, significantly enriching the sound.
