Stanley Clarke’s tour with 4EVER showcases the full splendour of his jazz-fusion legacy and focuses on “Romantic Warrior” from the discography of Return to Forever, in which Clarke played from the beginning alongside the legendary Chick Corea. It was Return to Forever’s most popular album. He will also perform other hits that audiences expect. For this tour, Clarke selected passages from the album and updated them with exciting, sophisticated new arrangements. The compositions are outstanding and the arrangements intricate. In keeping with jazz fusion’s evolution, we can expect a powerful combination of jazz harmony and improvisation with influences from rock, funk, R&B, hip-hop and electronic music.

A POWERFUL COMBINATION OF JAZZ HARMONY

16 MAY 2023

Four-time Grammy winner and outstanding American jazz bassist STANLEY CLARKE will visit Wrocław at the invitation of Ethno Jazz Festival. With his new band 4EVER, the artist will perform on 16 May at the White Stork Synagogue.
In 2022, the musician enjoyed enormous success touring clubs in many countries. As he emphasises, returning to the stage is hugely exciting for him. In a recent interview, he said:
“After the pandemic break, I’m full of energy now that I’m back on tour. The audience, the band’s creativity and the new musical arrangements make my artistic life complete.”

Joining Clarke, the young members of 4EVER bring dynamic, youthful energy and freshness to the music. The band features exceptionally accomplished musicians and performers: Jeremiah Collier on drums, Jahari Stampley on piano and keyboards, Colin Cook on guitar, Emilio Modeste on saxophone and, of course, Stanley Clarke on acoustic and electric bass. This is a true live band with a big jazz sound. Their strength lies in creating electrifying performances, constantly pushing the boundaries of their instruments’ sound.

Drummer Jeremiah Collier comes from Chicago's Southside. The 22-year-old is an exceptionally energetic drummer with a broad understanding of musical genres, combining technique with enthusiastic physical energy. Jeremiah has performed with Clarke for several years and was playing with him when Clarke received the National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master award in spring 2022.

Pianist and keyboard player Jahari Stampley also comes from Chicago. He began playing piano at 14, winning various competitions from his earliest years. By 18, he was recognised as a new driving force in jazz and admired by world-renowned musicians. He also began recording and touring with leading international artists.

Tenor saxophonist Emilio Modeste is a talented young musician from Wilmington, Germany. With his lyrical style, he is now one of the most outstanding young jazz saxophonists. Modeste began playing saxophone at the age of eight, and has performed with and studied under world-renowned musicians. He was also a touring member of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and has travelled around the world. Clarke regards Modeste as belonging to Wayne Shorter’s school of playing. He is also a gifted composer.

Guitarist Colin Cook is an extraordinary musician from McLean, Virginia, with a fresh, exciting new approach to jazz. He studied at the University of Southern California's Thorton School of Music and has since become a sought-after artist, bringing his unusual guitar style to numerous bands.
