Reggulator 2013 in Lubięcin: reggae, ska, Jafia Namuel, Mixtura and African rhythms from Foliba
Reggulator 2013 announced a meeting of reggae, ska and dancehall with African rhythms and beatboxing in Lubięcin. Jafia Namuel, Mixtura, Konopians and Foliba featured in a programme exploring different approaches to Jamaican and local musical influences.

The annual celebration of reggae, Reggulator, will take place for the 8th time in Lubięcin, in the Lubusz region. As usual, the sports-field complex will welcome artists representing genres such as reggae, ska and dancehall. Bands confirmed for this year include roots-reggae group Jafia Namuel, the eclectic Mixtura and the energetic Konopians. The festival will also feature Foliba, a group introducing audiences to African music. Zgas, the only two-time Polish beatbox champion, will be there too. Reggulator traditionally takes place at the end of June, so mark 29 June in your diary today.
Information about the bands:
Jafia Namuel
They are undoubtedly Poland’s finest roots-reggae band, creators of “Pozytywne Myślenie”, which became the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity’s nationwide anthem. Formed in 1994, they released “Roots & Culture” just two years later, immediately winning a large following. They performed not only in Poland but abroad, frequently filling venues to capacity. They have 2 studio albums, “Roots & Culture” (1996) and “In Time” (2009), and the live “One Love Train” (2012) to their name.

Mixtura
Mixtura is a new line-up of musicians known from various rock, reggae and hip-hop projects, including EastWest Rockers, Jamal, Ras Luta, Ocean, Managga and Contra. Their music is an unpredictable combination of electronica, hip-hop elements, dubstep, rock and Jamaican sounds. They have the warmly received album “Duch w Maszynie”, released in autumn 2012, to their name.
Konopians
Their music combines ska, early reggae and rocksteady, with no shortage of rock feeling. They have been playing since 1996 and have appeared at Poland's most important music events, including Przystanek Woodstock, Ostróda Reggae Festival and Afryka Festival in Toruń, as well as numerous events abroad, including in Ukraine, Slovakia and Germany.
Foliba
This Brzeg group was born in 2005 from a passion for drums and African culture. Their music is based on traditional West African rhythms, played on instruments including djembe, dundun, balafon and shekere. Alongside concerts, the band also run workshops.
Zgas
Poland's only two-time beatboxing champion. With his unique style, he imitates diverse sounds, musical instruments, vocal scratches and a bomb motif, can create three tracks simultaneously with his mouth, and performs excellent covers of well-known hits. His first solo album, “Human Beatbox”, released in April 2011, is one of the world's first “skills-based” records.
