Raz, Dwa, Trzy in Wrocław: original songs and interpretations of Osiecka and Młynarski
Raz, Dwa, Trzy creates a distinctive songwriting world through original material and interpretations of Agnieszka Osiecka and Wojciech Młynarski. The article accompanying the Impart concert traces the band’s Zielona Góra origins, albums and arrangements commissioned for radio and theatre.

Raz, Dwa, Trzy began in Zielona Góra in 1990. That spring, they entered Kraków’s Student Song Festival, winning its Grand Prix, awards for lyrics, music and arrangements, the Wojtek Bellon Award, Jacek Kaczmarski’s award and J.K. Pawluśkiewicz’s private award. In subsequent years, they appeared at successive editions of the Kraków and Opole festivals, and were also invited to Jarocin in the early 1990s. Their recordings followed: the vinyl debut “Jestem Polakiem”, “To ja”, then the “happy spirit” of “Cztery” and “Sufit”, and the “bridge music” of “Niecud”. For “Cztery”, nominated for a Fryderyk, and “Sufit”, the group worked with Wojciech Waglewski as producer.
The next album featured a concert recorded at Polish Radio's Agnieszka Osiecka Studio. Commissioned by Radio Three, the band rearranged more than a dozen songs by the much-loved lyricist and performed them on the fifth anniversary of her death. The record went platinum and received a Fryderyk 2002 nomination in the curious “Popular Music” category.
A year later came the original studio album “Trudno nie wierzyć w nic”, consolidating Raz Dwa Trzy’s position. It received seven Fryderyk 2003 nominations. The band won five statuettes in Alternative Music for Song of the Year, Production, Lyrics, Album of the Year and Group of the Year. The record has sold over one hundred thousand copies to date, achieving Platinum status. In March 2007, the band prepared a programme of Wojciech Młynarski’s songs commissioned by Przegląd Piosenki Aktorskiej.
In June, the band recorded live material featuring his songs. Since its September 2007 release, the album has gone double platinum, selling around 70,000 copies. At the Fryderyki 2008 ceremony in April, the group received two honours: Band of the Year and Album of the Year in the POP category. Meanwhile, the editors of Przekrój weekly named them “Phenomenon of the Year 2007”. Empik honoured the band with an “As Empiku” award for the best-selling recordings of 2007. In July 2008, they won the TOP category at the “Top-Trendy” festival for the highest number of copies sold of “Raz, Dwa, Trzy – Młynarski” in 2007.
