Kariera’s avant-pop, Natalia Lubrano’s soul and OCN’s rock opened a series built around original songs and mutual interpretations.
On 12 October 2014, episode 1 of Nut Ferment took place at Scena Ciśnień in Wrocław’s Capitol Musical Theatre. Konrad Imiela hosted the meeting, with live performances interspersed with conversation.
Each guest performed songs from their own repertoire and interpreted a piece associated with another participant. Passing songs between the artists brought different voices, instruments and approaches to the same stage.
The opening song
The title song “Nut Ferment” was performed by Tomasz Leszczyński. Tomasz Leszczyński composed the music and Konrad Imiela wrote the lyrics.
Kariera
Kariera brought together Maciej Markowski and Marcin Ożóg in a project that crossed conventional genre boundaries. By the time of this appearance, the duo had released “Miasto” and “Kołysanki”, developing a distinctive combination of unusual sounds, vocal harmonies and playful lyrics. Julia Janczara and Sebastian Szczepanowski joined them at Capitol.
The set included “Koniec wakacji” and “Dość”. The exchange added “Sleep Well”, from the repertoire of Natalia Lubrano.
KarieraNatalia Lubrano
Natalia Lubrano performed with guitarist Wojciech Orszewski, a co-writer of her solo material. Known for her work with Miloopa, she combined soul, funk and nu jazz in songs built around her own voice. The intimate line-up placed vocals and guitar at the centre of the performance.
The set included “Dulskość” and “New Love”. The exchange added “Definicja”, from the repertoire of OCN.
Natalia LubranoOCN
OCN, previously known as Ocean, represented the rock side of the Wrocław scene. Formed in 2001, the band released the English-language album “Waterfall” under its shortened name in 2013. For this appearance, Maciej Wasio, Radosław Owczarz and Michał Kleciński returned to Polish-language songs.
The set included “Wyrwać” and “Czas, by krzyczeć”. The exchange added “Dryf”, from the repertoire of Kariera.
