MOŻDŻER, DANIELSSON, FRESCO – will play at 3-Majówka festival

THE REFINED SOUNDS OF CLASSICAL MUSIC

The trio’s concert on 2 May at the impressive, UNESCO-listed Centennial Hall has the potential to become one of Poland’s most important artistic events of 2023. MOŻDŻER/DANIELSSON/FRESCO have enjoyed extraordinary success in Poland on a scale previously reserved for popular music acts. Sold-out concert halls and chart-topping album sales are remarkable achievements for a group playing improvised music.

The secret is probably the ensemble’s melodiousness and refined sound, alongside all three musicians’ impressive virtuosity. Lars Danielsson is among Europe’s finest jazz double bassists, an extraordinarily experienced musician equally comfortable with avant-garde and mainstream jazz, with pop, ethnic and classical recordings to his name. The classically trained bassist has an excellent understanding with Polish piano virtuoso Leszek Możdżer, who moves just as freely between styles and shares a very similar sensitivity.

The third artist, Zohar Fresco, is widely known in the world of frame drums: a virtuoso, visionary and teacher with numerous students and followers. The Możdżer Danielsson Fresco trio creates music of formal beauty and impressive virtuosity, bringing together musical worlds in a rare combination: the noble sound of classical music, the melodic poetry of jazz, spacious arrangements, virtuosic displays and the intricate pulses of Far Eastern percussion.
