Lura, whose real name is Maria de Lurdes Pina Assunção, was born in Lisbon. Her parents came from the world’s greenest and most musical islands, Cape Verde. Initially, she studied and trained as a swimmer, until Juka asked her at seventeen to record backing vocals for his album and even sing a duet. From that moment, Lura has sung, recorded and performed worldwide. What is more, she is considered one of Cape Verde’s finest artists and a worthy successor to the outstanding Cesaria Evora, on whose album “Cesaria Evora &…” (2010) she made a guest appearance.

Lura began her career with “Nha Vida” (1996), but it was her third album, “Di Korpu Ku Alma” (2004), that brought the real success she continues to enjoy. She now has seven records to her name, each with its own diversity. In Lura’s music, energy intertwines with lyrical sounds, beautiful melodies with a strong, magnificent voice, and sensual, atmospheric songs with sounds that sweep you onto the dance floor.

The artist's latest releases are 2015's “Herança”, which Wrocław audiences have already had a chance to hear at a Siesta on the Road concert in Stary Klasztor, and the recently released EP “Alguem di Alguem”.

This will be a remarkable opportunity to discover Cape Verde's rich culture and its people's customs and traditions. The album is a dancing musical journey with this talented, charismatic Cape Verdean singer. Vibrant and wonderfully danceable, it is built on the islands' characteristic musical rhythm.
