Lech Janerka: a club concert of Wrocław rock and the work of the artist behind “Plagiaty”
wROCKfest.pl invites you to a long-awaited club concert by Wrocław’s Polish rock legend. LECH JANERKA and his band will perform on 30 March in the Gothic Hall at Stary Klasztor! Lech Janerka is a Wrocław-born rock musician, composer, bassist and lyricist who emerged on the Polish rock scene in the late seventies. In 1979, he founded Klaus Mitffoch, with whom he recorded “Klaus Mitffoch” (1985), regarded by many as the most important record in Polish rock history.

In its expressiveness, the album matched the energy of punk rock bands, yet featured a much more developed melodic and harmonic dimension. Its lyrics addressed the realities of communist Poland in the eighties, many offering veiled criticism of the ruling regime and a call to fight. The album won a Magazyn Muzyczny journalists' poll for album of the thirty-year period, and a Tylko Rock readers' poll for album of the 80s.
After leaving the band, Lech Janerka released Historia podwodna (1986) under his own name. It was followed by Piosenki (1989), Ur (1991), Bez prądu (1993), Co lepsze kawałki (1993), Bruhaha (1994), Dobranoc (1996), Fiu fiu (2002) and Plagiaty (2005). Janerka also composed music for Jacek Skalski's “Chce mi się wyć” and Wiesław Saniewski's “Obcy musi fruwać”.
Lech Janerka breaks the world's spell with melodic cries and thoughtful phrases, turning lyrics into rhythmic incantations. Within these words, the moment, the instant and reality are strongly felt. It is an alternative world full of life, rebelling with infinite energy against grey everyday existence.
