Błażej Król is one of the younger generation's most decorated musicians and lyricists. For years, he has diligently forged a path from the independent world to the stages of the biggest festivals and the pages of influential music publications.

He began his career in a duo with Maurycy Kiebzak Górski as UL/KR. Their first joint album caused a sensation and was named “Album of the Year 2012” by the Agora group's music journalists. Positive reviews also appeared in the weeklies “Newsweek” and “Przekrój” and in specialist music magazines, securing it leading positions in rankings of the most important Polish releases in alternative, electronic and indie rock music.

In 2014, Król decided to release a solo record. He became known to wider audiences through “Nielot”, “Wij” (2015) and “Przez Sen” (2016). His latest album was made in collaboration with Piotr Emade Waglewski, who handled mixing and mastering. As ever, the hypnotic music and intriguing lyrics are Błażej’s work. The album comprises 9 tracks offering insight into the artist’s inner world: poetic yet natural, emotional yet grounded. The coolness familiar from his earlier work warms itself here in the glow of sometimes positively tropical percussion; retro techniques are used in wholly unpredictable ways, occasionally recalling no-wave New York; and intimacy takes catchy, relatable forms within the songs.

The album is an excellent example of outsider music: individual, distinctive music that approaches sound, its governing rules and its genre divisions with considerable freedom.

KRÓL’s performing line-up:

• Błażej Król – vocals, guitar
• Iwona Król – keyboards, vocals
• Thomas Fietz – drums, electronics
