Leszek Możdżer with “Komeda”: jazz piano and original interpretations of film themes

Leszek Możdżer, a complete musician, one of Polish jazz's greatest revelations, a world-class pianist and outstanding improviser, will perform in Wrocław on 10 October. He will present material from his latest album, “Komeda”, rediscovering and interpreting the legendary Krzysztof Komeda's compositions.

Critics describe Leszek Możdżer’s “Komeda” as an entirely individual and original project, comprising musical variations based on the work of the Polish jazz legend. It is also Możdżer’s solo debut for German label ACT and a tribute to the exceptional Polish artist Krzysztof Komeda, an acclaimed pianist and composer also known for soundtracks to most of Roman Polański’s films.

The album and concert will therefore feature well-known pieces from films such as “Knife in the Water” and “Rosemary’s Baby”, alongside less familiar but equally remarkable compositions. Możdżer’s pioneering style, a fusion of classical music and jazz, also means that “Komeda” is appreciated by lovers of both genres. The record can confidently be described as the result of an extraordinary, timeless meeting of two musical personalities and two generations of Polish jazz.
