GUITAR WORLD RECORD 2024 IN WROCŁAW
Play with us! On 1 May 2024, we meet in Wrocław’s Market Square for another attempt to set a new Guitar World Record. After more than 20 years of playing together, the Wrocław event has become a major music festival showcasing the guitar’s many faces and drawing thousands of guitarists and tourists from around the world. We invite you now to join this 1 May celebration of the guitar and help create the World’s Largest Guitar Orchestra.

On 1 May, the Market Square and its surroundings will become a guitar village, with several stages showcasing different ways of playing the guitar, from electric guitar through fingerstyle and flamenco to classical guitar and ukulele. There will also be numerous guitar workshops, meetings with artists, guitar amplifier presentations, demonstrations of masterful playing, autograph and photo sessions, and a special children's zone.
Bards and buskers will appear in the streets, alongside quick guitar-building workshops and an exhibition of portraits of guitar legends. The traditional competitions for a guitar made from “anything at all” and the best guitar costume will also return. Everyone can try their luck on the special “Your 5 Minutes of Fame” stage.
In the “green guitar zone”, you will be able to generate electricity yourself to power your guitar and play! In the “guitar fashion” zone, we will take your photos, display them on the large screen in Wrocław's Market Square and share them online.
Registration for Guitar World Record participants will open on 1 May at 10:00 at the registration point on the southern side of Wrocław's Market Square, near the Aleksander Fredro monument. The point will be clearly marked, with directional arrows showing the way.
What do you need to bring? When registering, you must have an instrument — guitar, bass guitar, ukulele, mandolin or another stringed instrument — and be able to play Jimi Hendrix's “Hey Joe” on it (5 chords: C, G, D, A, E). If in doubt, your playing ability may be checked. Toy instruments or imitations will not be accepted.
After registering, participants will receive a wristband granting admission to the event and an official commemorative Record Holder Certificate 2024. There will also be an opportunity to buy T-shirts and other festival merchandise, along with discounted tickets for 3-Majówka 2024, which has accompanied the Guitar World Record attempt for years. Online registration will open in early April 2024.
Advance registration simplifies signing up on site. Every participant must personally confirm participation at designated registration points. All you need is a guitar and five basic chords, C, G, D, A and E, to play Jimi Hendrix’s “Hey Joe”. People of every age can participate, and every guitar counts: acoustic, classical, electric and bass, alongside mandolins, banjos and ukuleles.
We will prepare a special area for electric guitarists, with access to power — we recommend bringing an extension lead with multiple sockets. Guest performances and group playing will begin at 10:00. Playing will take place on several stages, so every guitar enthusiast will find something to enjoy. As always, the record-attempt song will be Jimi Hendrix's “Hey Joe”, but we will also play other guitar hits together.
Participant registration closes at 15:45, followed by the final rehearsal of the shared performance of “Hey Joe”. Do not leave registration until the last moment!
At precisely 16:00, we will begin the OFFICIAL ATTEMPT to set a new GUITAR WORLD RECORD A.D. 2024! At around 16:15, this year's result will be announced, we will play an encore together and finish the Market Square event.

Zagraj z nami! 1 maja 2024 roku spotykamy się na wrocławskim Rynku, aby ponownie podjąć próbę ustanowienia nowego Gitarowego Rekordu Świata. Po ponad 20 latach wspólnego grania wrocławska impreza stała się wielkim muzycznym festiwalem, prezentującym różne oblicza gitary oraz przyciągającym do Wrocławia tysiące gitarzystów i turystów z całego świata. Już teraz zapraszamy do uczestnictwa w tym 1-majowym święcie gitary i do wspólnego stworzenia Największej Gitarowej Orkiestry Świata. Rynek i jego okolice zamienią się 1 maja w gitarowe miasteczko z kilkoma scenami, które będą prezentować różne style gry na gitarze – od elektrycznej, przez fingerstyle i flamenco, po gitarę klasyczną i ukulele. Czekać będą także liczne warsztaty gitarowe, spotkania z artystami, prezentacje wzmacniaczy gitarowych, pokazy mistrzowskiej gry, sesje autografów i wspólne zdjęcia oraz specjalna strefa dla dzieci. Na ulicach pojawią się bardowie i uliczni grajkowie, odbędą się warsztaty z konstrukcji gitary „na szybko” oraz wystawa portretów gitarowych legend. Nie zabraknie tradycyjnych konkursów na gitarę wykonaną z „byle czego” oraz na najlepsze gitarowe przebranie. Każdy będzie mógł spróbować swoich sił na specjalnej scenie „Twoje 5 minut sławy”. W „zielonej strefie gitary” będziecie mogli samodzielnie wytworzyć prąd, aby zasilić swoją gitarę i zagrać! W strefie „guitar fashion” zrobimy Wam zdjęcia, które wyświetlimy na telebimie na wrocławskim Rynku oraz udostępnimy w internecie. Rejestracja uczestników Gitarowego Rekordu Świata rozpocznie się 1 maja o godz. 10:00 w punkcie rejestracyjnym na południowej pierzei wrocławskiego Rynku, w pobliżu pomnika Aleksandra Fredry. Punkt będzie wyraźnie oznaczony, a drogę wskażą informacyjne strzałki. Co trzeba mieć ze sobą? Podczas rejestracji należy posiadać instrument (gitarę, gitarę basową, ukulele, mandolinę lub inny instrument strunowy) i umieć zagrać na nim utwór „Hey Joe” Jimiego Hendrixa (5 akordów: C, G, D, A, E). W razie wątpliwości umiejętność gry może zostać sprawdzona. Instrumenty zabawkowe lub imitacje nie będą akceptowane. Po rejestracji uczestnicy otrzymają identyfikator w formie opaski na rękę, który uprawnia do wejścia na teren imprezy, oraz oficjalny pamiątkowy Certyfikat Rekordzisty 2024. Będzie także możliwość zakupu koszulek i innych gadżetów festiwalowych oraz ulgowych biletów na koncerty festiwalu 3-Majówka 2024, który od lat towarzyszy biciu Gitarowego Rekordu Świata. Na początku kwietnia 2024 roku uruchomimy rejestrację online. Wcześniejsza rejestracja uprości procedurę zapisów na miejscu. Przypominamy, że każdy uczestnik musi osobiście potwierdzić swój udział w biciu Gitarowego Rekordu Świata w wyznaczonych punktach rejestracyjnych. Aby zagrać, wystarczy mieć gitarę i znać pięć podstawowych akordów: C, G, D, A, E, potrzebnych do zagrania utworu „Hey Joe” Jimiego Hendrixa. Udział mogą brać osoby w każdym wieku, a do rekordu wliczają się wszystkie rodzaje gitar – akustyczne, klasyczne, elektryczne, basowe, a także mandoliny, banjo i ukulele. Dla gitarzystów elektrycznych przygotujemy specjalny sektor z możliwością podłączenia do prądu – zalecamy zabranie przedłużacza z rozgałęźnikiem. Koncerty zaproszonych gości oraz wspólne granie rozpoczną się o godz. 10:00. Granie odbędzie się na kilku scenach, więc każdy miłośnik gitary znajdzie coś dla siebie. Jak zawsze, „rekordowym” utworem będzie „Hey Joe” Jimiego Hendrixa, ale wspólnie wykonamy również inne gitarowe hity. Rejestracja uczestników zakończy się o godz. 15:45, po czym odbędzie się generalna próba wspólnego wykonania „Hey Joe”. Nie zwlekajcie z rejestracją do ostatniej chwili! Punktualnie o godz. 16:00 przystąpimy do OFICJALNEJ PRÓBY ustanowienia nowego GITAROWEGO REKORDU ŚWIATA A.D. 2024! Około godz. 16:15 zostanie ogłoszony tegoroczny wynik, zagramy wspólny bis i zakończymy imprezę na Rynku. Do zobaczenia we Wrocławiu – Mieście Gitary!
