Eluveitie was founded in 2002 by Chrigel Glanzmann, driven by a desire to combine modern metal with the musical traditions of the Celtic world. Born amid the rural mysticism of the Swiss Alps and deeply rooted in Celtic history, mythology and spirituality from the outset, Eluveitie have become one of metal’s most original and inventive bands. They have helped define a style without which the contemporary metal scene would be considerably poorer.

Since their legendary debut “Vên” in 2004, their approach to combining traditional folk with melodic death metal has been marked by respect, historical accuracy and depth.

Their breakthrough work, 2008’s “Slania”, brought them to Nuclear Blast. That friendship continues today and quickly transformed the band into a worldwide phenomenon. Over the next few years, they released further excellent albums. With each record, they refined their trademark blend of Chrigel’s thunderous roar, metallic ferocity and folkloric invention, which has always been much more than simply “let’s add some bagpipes”.

The line-up has evolved over the years, but Eluveitie's soul, the very essence of this pagan gathering, remains intact. Today they have an impressive nine studio albums behind them, many topping charts in numerous countries, countless worldwide tours on every continent, and repeated headline appearances at the biggest metal festivals.
