Lamb at City Sounds: Lou Rhodes and Andy Barlow’s trip-hop following “Five”

Lamb’s music moves between Lou Rhodes’s intimate songwriting and Andy Barlow’s electronic production. The announcement of the duo’s return to Wrocław traces a path from “Gabriel” and “Górecki” to the period after “Five”, through trip-hop, ambient textures and jazz-inflected rhythms.

Three years after the critically acclaimed “Five”, Lamb return with a new album and a European tour! Lamb are a legendary, cult British duo rooted in the Bristol sound and trip-hop. Alongside Massive Attack, Portishead and Hooverphonic, Lamb prove that electronic music can have a romantic face.

Charismatic singer and lyricist Lou Rhodes and producer and multi-instrumentalist Andy Barlow created a unique style combining lyrical vocals with ambient, trip-hop and jazz pulses. Their extraordinary productions stretch from lyrical ambient ballads through dark trip-hop to fierce, restless drum’n’bass.

They have 5 albums and 3 compilations to their name, featuring songs now regarded as classics, including Gabriel, Górecki, Heaven, Angelica, Lullaby, Cottonwool and God Bless. In 2004, the duo officially suspended their activities to concentrate on their own solo projects. Barlow and Rhodes played their final concert together at Amsterdam’s Paradiso in September 2004. That memorable performance was recorded for a DVD that was never released. Early in 2009, news of the duo’s return to live performance caused a sensation. Their 2009 tour brought them to Poland for the first time, for a memorable concert at Warsaw’s Palladium. The tour’s enormous success encouraged them to return to the studio and work on their fifth studio album. Their new record, “Five”, was released in 2011.

Early this year, they returned to the studio and are now finishing their sixth album, “Backspace Unwind”, due for release in October. They will present the new material on their European tour!

The Ramona Flowers (UK)

After last year's moving, acclaimed singles “Brighter”, “Lust and Lies” and “Tokyo”, The Ramona Flowers' eagerly awaited debut, “Dismantle and Rebuild”, appears on 14 July, produced at Distillery Records.

Coming from Bristol, home to independent music heavyweights such as Tricky, Portishead and Massive Attack, The Ramona Flowers had a wealth of inspiration to draw on as they developed their uplifting, intensely emotional sound. Under the guidance of Andy Barlow, the leader of Manchester duo Lamb, they refined their style through diverse musical influences and their own experiences, creating electronic compositions with a striking sense of scale.
