Chris Botti and band at Hala Orbita: smooth jazz and the musical world of “Impressions”

We are pleased to announce another concert by the most popular smooth-jazz trumpeter as part of Ethno Jazz Festival. Chris Botti and his band will perform at Orbita hall on ul. Wejherowska on 18 March 2013.

Chris Botti is a smooth-jazz trumpeter and undoubtedly one of the world’s most recognisable jazz musicians. He performs solo and as a session musician, having worked with stars including Sting, Aretha Franklin, Bob Dylan and Paul Simon. He has also performed with Diana Krall, Jill Scott, Michael Buble and Rod Stewart. Through persistence and hard work, Botti has achieved commercial success rarely seen among jazz artists. He has numerous Grammy nominations and three number-one positions on Billboard’s Jazz Albums chart to his name. Sting himself, fascinated by his work, called him an “ambassador of the jazz world”.

The musician’s latest solo album, “Impressions”, was released this year. Alongside Chris Botti, playing with his characteristic sound and great musical imagination, it features artists including Andrea Bocelli, Vince Gill, Herbie Hancock, Mark Knopfler, David Foster and Caroline Campbell. On “Impressions”, Botti turns to familiar, easily recognisable songs that once convinced him of the importance of melody in musical composition, as well as timeless hits such as “What A Wonderful World”, “Summertime” and “Over the Rainbow”. The album also grew out of conversations with fans during his last lengthy tour and numerous inspirations from different cultures.
