BOKKA IN THE LET’S PLAY PROJECT
The 2018 season opened with a concert by Snowman and Humble Buzz. The next act we would like to invite you to see, on 16 November, is BOKKA. The concert will promote the band's new, third album, “Life On Planet B”.

They are one of the most extraordinary phenomena on the Polish scene, and not simply because nobody knows who they are. Their masked faces are merely the opening to the remarkable story of BOKKA: a band that needed no names or surnames to create an identity unique far beyond their domestic market. Appearing almost from nowhere with the 2013 track Town Of Strangers, which went on to feature on their debut album and caused a stir among Polish and international journalists along the way, BOKKA became a bright new presence among Poland’s emerging bands. The masked outfit’s first album received lavish praise both at home and abroad, including a favourable review from Pitchfork, one of the world’s most influential music publications.
An unconventional approach to both image and music-making, best demonstrated by unusual instrumentation often comprising everyday objects, quickly became BOKKA’s trademark. Their potential was swiftly recognised abroad. Following a sold-out tour and Poland’s largest festivals, they appeared at leading European events including Britain’s The Great Escape, the Czech Colours of Ostrava, Germany’s Reeperbahn and the Netherlands’ Eurosonic, followed by club concerts in Brussels, Prague and Budapest.
In 2015, BOKKA presented their second album. Don’t Kiss And Tell repeated its predecessor’s success, receiving a nomination for Electronic and Alternative Album of the Year at the Fryderyks, among the Polish music industry’s most important awards. The band performed the new material in Poland and abroad. An unusual initiative accompanied the promotion: the band created the “BOKKA” game app, allowing fans to collect stars in space to unlock successive sections of Too Far, Too Close, the closing track on Don’t Kiss And Tell. The game is still available to download free for smartphones and tablets.
By consistently maintaining their anonymous, mysterious image and unconventional approach to making and promoting music, BOKKA have become one of the Polish alternative scene’s most popular bands. They spent 2017 working on a new record. Life On Planet B, released on 20 April 2018, is their third album. It was created with Daniel Walczak, who became its co-producer after previously overseeing recordings by Curly Heads, Dawid Podsiadło and Grzegorz Hyży. Recording took place at Little Studio in Konstancin and Custom 34 Studio in Gdańsk. Daniel Walczak, Rafał Smoleń and the band mixed the material. The musicians particularly highlight the positive atmosphere during the sessions and the excellent working conditions.
Let us experience together the incredible adventure that is every performance by the band: join us on 16 November at Wrocław Congress Centre! The evening will open with a performance by another talented young musician, known as ENDY YDEN.
