AYỌ & QUARTET – a premiere concert in Wrocław!

The world music star and singer behind the worldwide hit “Down on My Knees” will be joined by a quartet of Polish musicians on piano, guitar, double bass and drums. The audience will hear her best-loved songs from the iconic album “Joyful” in new arrangements created especially for this evening.

AYỌ is a citizen of the world who turns personal experiences and memories of her travels into songs. Her distinctive, expressive voice moves listeners from the very first notes. A singer, composer and improviser, she draws primarily on soul, folk and reggae to create her own recognisable sound. She moves naturally between musical eras and genres, bringing melancholy together with optimism and a joy for life.

The world discovered her talent in 2006, when her debut album “Joyful” won the hearts of listeners. The honesty and directness of her music continue to draw fans. Her subsequent records include “Gravity at Last” (2008), “Billie-Eve” (2011), “Ticket to the World” (2013) and “Royal” (2020). Each invited listeners on a musical journey, weaving personal stories together with hypnotic melodies.

Travel holds a special place in AYỌ’s life and music. Her move to Tahiti inspired her seventh album, “Mami Wata”. It was there, on the island in French Polynesia surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, that she composed 13 new songs. This personal, introspective album opened a new chapter in her career and reflected a fresh surge of creative energy. Lyrics reminiscent of free verse, melodies, harmonies and arrangements form a coherent whole in which every detail matters.

The Wrocław concert will bring the emotional power of AYỌ’s songs together with the jazz sound of a Polish quartet. It is an invitation to discover her music anew.
