Anthony Strong’s first visit to Poland: British vocals and piano with “Stepping Out”

Ethno Jazz Festival is delighted to invite you to the first Polish concert by the new English star of jazz singing. Anthony Strong, the discovery of England's last musical season, will perform at the White Stork Synagogue on 11 February.

Since releasing his debut album in 2013, Anthony has appeared on the front page of France's most widely read newspaper, Le Figaro, performed live for millions of German television viewers, and been hailed by the British press as “a huge talent with every ingredient to become the next star alongside Jamie Cullum and Michael Bublé in the pantheon of contemporary retro-jazz”.

As a “new English jazz star”, having supported the legendary BB King and released an EP topping the UK jazz chart, singer and pianist Anthony Strong attracted the world’s leading labels. He ultimately signed with cult French label Naïve, whose releases include million-selling records by Adele, Carla Bruni and Katie Melua, and released his first album, “Stepping Out”, in April 2013.

Having won scholarships to Whitgift School and The Purcell School of Music in England, Anthony funded his studies at the world-renowned Guildhall School of Music by performing in London. He quickly earned a reputation as an in-demand session musician, playing with artists including Michael Bolton, Marti Pellow and Kyle Eastwood. For 9 months, he played Jerry Lee Lewis in the West End musical Million Dollar Quartet before thousands of spectators. Jazz lover Rod Stewart even returned the day after seeing the show to tell Anthony that his performance was “f***ing brilliant!”

In 2011, the singer was invited to join Paloma Faith, English artist Tony Christie and jazz legend Buddy Greco for the BBC’s star-studded New Year broadcast live from The Savoy Ballroom in London. In 2012, Strong made his European festival debut in France, Italy, Spain, Scandinavia, Germany and Switzerland. All 12 of his concerts at Paris’s legendary Duc Des Lombards club sold out.
