3-Majówka 2017: three festival days at Pergola and Wrocław’s Centennial Hall
As every year, Wrocław becomes a centre for great music over the May holiday! We will meet again at the beautiful Pergola and Centennial Hall for the 3 festival days of 3-Majówka 2017.

1–3 MAY 2017
On the festival's first day, more widely known as Thanks Jimi Festival, immediately after another Guinness Guitar Record attempt we move straight to the Pergola, where 1 May will be devoted to heavier sounds. We begin outdoors at 17.00 with Polish thrash metal band Acid Drinkers.
Founded in 1990 at singer Titus and guitarist Litza’s initiative, the band have delighted genre fans ever since. Their combination of thrash and groove metal, inspired by punk and blues-rock’s vibrant, gentler sounds, became their recipe for success. Immediately after this exciting appearance, we welcome British stars Enter Shikari. This is their second Wrocław visit, following their 2015 concert at Alibi club.
Since their earliest days, the band have surprised listeners with their vision and interpretation of post-hardcore combined with electronic sounds. This performance will certainly stay in the audience’s memory for a long time. Legendary Irish band The Cranberries will close that day’s open-air concerts. The group were due to perform in Poland several times before, but the shows were cancelled. Not this time! Fans of Dolores O’Riodan’s hypnotic vocals can see her in action at the Pergola on 1 May!
Centennial Hall hosts Lacuna Coil, certain to satisfy gothic-metal fans. Founded in 1994, the Italian group have been considered genre pioneers for years, surprising audiences with interpretations of medieval music combined with modernity. Immediately afterwards, Dog Eat Dog take over, flying in from the United States. They present their version of hardcore punk, offering the perfect chance to jump and headbang to heavier sounds.
Day two brings plenty of Polish names and more besides. At the Pergola, we begin with Paweł Domagała, whose gentle pop songs will put us in a May-holiday festival mood. Immediately afterwards, the dependable, one-of-a-kind Strachy na Lachy take over. Grabaż will delight us with his vocals as always, and everyone there will tap their feet to “Piła Tango” and “Czarna Kawa”. They will be followed by a band who have graced the May festival stage for years and, frankly, we cannot imagine an edition without them.
Happysad's on-stage energy will get everyone dancing. They will be followed by our own Wrocław artist with an incredible project: L.U.C. & Rebel Babel Ensemble. This simply cannot be missed. The final outdoor concert will feature Polish rock classics Lady Pank! This band needs no introduction and is certain to draw a huge crowd of loyal fans in front of the stage!
At Centennial Hall, we begin with Julia Pietrucha. Her gentle voice and ukulele sounds will create a holiday mood. Next comes the best-known Danish Pole with his Danish band, Czesław Śpiewa. They will take listeners into tango, pop, folk and avant-garde, using a wide range of instruments including glass bells, assorted wind instruments, accordions and ukuleles. Then it is time for heavier sounds as Hunter take the stage!
Their success can be attributed to their unique atmosphere, strange yet beautifully composed sounds and wordplay, unusual instruments, elaborate stage sets and carefully conceived live shows. You will see for yourselves! After a light dose of metal comes music that is original, melodic, brilliantly arranged and, above all, brilliantly played: Renata Przemyk will perform for you. Immediately after her concert, Ukrainian group 5’nizza will take the stage.
The artists combined poetic, abstract lyrics with reggae, Latin music, jazz and hip-hop, added fantastic beatboxing and delivered it all with extraordinary ease and humour. It is well worth seeing what these guys get up to on stage! Shortly after midnight, the stage will belong to Natalia Przybysz, one of the most interesting female voices on the Polish music scene, as well as a composer and lyricist. Her latest album, “Prąd”, has been an extraordinary success, and there will undoubtedly be crowds of fans in front of the stage.
The final artist on Centennial Hall's stage that day will certainly get you moving. Łąki Łan are an eccentric collective combining so many genres they are difficult to list. Their stage energy, ironic and often highly symbolic lyrics, and danceable music will set everyone in motion!
The day also features a Chillout Stage, where we will enjoy artists including XXANAXX and Rebeka, before ending the day with a DJ set.
The third day is every bit as strong as the others. At the Pergola, we begin with Polish music mainstays: Luxtorpeda, followed shortly by Coma and then Illusion. We are sure many of you will be waiting for the next concert, by the ever-reliable Kult. Closing the outdoor concerts will be a brilliant artist whose songs move even the stiffest listeners. Brodka will help us say farewell to the Pergola stage!
At Centennial Hall, we begin with a young artist whose career started on television and has climbed steadily ever since. Piotr Zioła will perform material from his first album. Hip-hop takes over next, as Łona and Webber demonstrate fine Polish rap. Then comes dependable Nosowska, whose concerts are top-class spectacles and whose charisma puts a smile on every face. After Kasia, British musicians take the stage.
The Toy Dolls will play classic street punk-rock with brilliant lyrics often featuring intriguing wordplay. Unmissable! After our British visitors comes the Waglewski brothers’ project, Fisz Emade Tworzywo. They inherited their father’s talent and creativity, but certainly owe their careers to hard work. Brilliant songs with thought-provoking lyrics deserve to be heard live! Krzysztof Zalewski will be the May festival stage’s penultimate artist.
His album Złoto, released last year, was a huge success. Rock sounds, stage energy, colourful outfits and Zalewski's brilliant, deeply penetrating voice are sure to catch your attention. We will close the festival with rap: a classic name in Polish hip-hop, O.S.T.R.! He always draws crowds, and this time will surely be no exception. Come and see for yourselves!
