Ethno Jazz Festival invites lovers of Caucasian culture to the first Wrocław concert by Georgian band ZumbaLand. The project led by outstanding Georgian musician Zaza Korinteli skilfully combines Georgian tradition with modern, unconventional jazz-rock sounds.

The mysterious ZumbaLand will appear before Wrocław audiences on 27 November as part of the prestigious ‘World Music at the White Stork Synagogue’ concert series, presenting some of the most interesting ethnic music from around the globe.

ZumbaLand are one of Georgia’s most popular bands, successfully bringing together jazz, fusion, folk, funk and rock. They captivate audiences with a remarkably fluid sound that seems to transport listeners to distant places, both geographical and metaphysical. ZumbaLand set Georgian identity and culture against cosmopolitanism and omnipresent pop culture. Their music stands out for its vitality, passion and diversity of sound, revealing a true Caucasian soul.

Zumba is an acronym of the Georgian proverb “All you need is the will, and it will surely come true”. The band embarked on their first tour in 1994, and their debut album, “Czekam na wschód słońca”, appeared in 1995. Two years later, they enchanted audiences at two important Tbilisi festivals, “Hands” and “Margarita”, winning the Best Georgian Band category. Leader Zaza Korinteli spent the following years in Poland, studying at Kraków’s Academy of Contemporary Music and Jazz. In 2000, he recorded “Project Union” with a Kraków line-up. That same year, Korinteli returned to Georgia and finalised the band’s membership.

Band leader Zaza Korinteli is also known for his work as an ambassador for Georgian folk music and folklore worldwide.
