Zaz at Ethno Jazz Festival in Eter: “Je veux”, a French voice and a combination of jazz and soul

ZAZ is a young French star fusing jazz and soul. She will perform at Wrocław's Eter on 9 November as part of Ethno Jazz Festival. The concert promoting her debut is one of this year's most eagerly awaited artistic events in Poland.

ZAZ

ZAZ is the stage name of French artist Isabelle Geffroy. With her strong, intensely sensitive and slightly husky voice, the singer is often compared to the legendary Edith Piaf. She began her career as a blues vocalist and also worked with Latin-rock group Don Diego. To develop her career, she moved to Paris, singing almost daily in cabarets and piano bars. She also performed with her musicians on the streets of Montmartre.

ZAZ’s breakthrough came in 2009, when she won the final of the important French Tremplin Génération France Bleu/Réservoir competition. This enabled her to record her long-dreamed-of debut, released in France in May last year and quickly conquering Europe’s recording market. Its music deftly blends jazz, soul and occasional folk. The promotional song “Je veux” (I Want) soon became a hit, and the album entered bestseller lists, including in Poland.

Since 2010, ZAZ has been touring extensively in France, with a series of concerts across Europe planned for this year. At the end of June, this intriguing 30-year-old singer will give two concerts in Poland: at Warsaw's Congress Hall and Wrocław's Eter club. She comes to Wrocław at the invitation of Ethno Jazz Festival's organisers and LIONSTAGE Management.
