Us3 in Wrocław: “Cantaloop”, Blue Note and jazz combined with funk and rap
The band's debut, Hand On The Torch, sold more than 3.5 million copies, becoming Blue Note's greatest commercial success. Over the years, Us3, led by charismatic producer Geoff Wilkinson, have surprised listeners with great musical sensitivity and an exceptional ability to create original, modern sounds while retaining the character of their source material.
Us3 are the world's most famous acid jazz band and legends of jazz label Blue Note Records. They created unforgettable hits Cantaloop, We Got It Goin’ On and Come On Everybody (Get Down). Their music is an original combination of jazz, funk, rap and Eastern sounds.
Their interpretations reminded the world of many wonderful jazz pieces, earning Us3 numerous critical awards and honours. Wilkinson invites a new singer for each album, bringing freshness, energy and quality to their danceable songs and keeping the collective’s music alive. They now have seven albums featuring singers including Kobie Powell & Tukka Yoot, Alison Crockett, Michelob and Akil Dasan & Gaston.
Every previous visit to Poland was a huge success, with tickets selling out many days in advance. The band has performed in Wrocław twice, in 2005 and 2009. It is high time for another visit!
