Unity Tour 2011 in Toruń: Abradab, Marika, Mesajah and Natural Dread Killaz with bands
Unity Tour 2011 brings Abradab, Marika, Mesajah, Natural Dread Killaz and Zgas together in an announcement of shared touring. The Toruń programme connects reggae, hip-hop and dancehall with live instruments, beatboxing and influences from soul and R&B.
Poland has never seen a tour like this! Five distinctive acts from the Polish reggae, hip-hop and dancehall scene will embark on a joint tour this autumn. On Saturday 15 October they will visit Toruń, where Abradab, Marika, Mesajah and Natural Dread Killaz will play at the Od Nowa club. All the artists will be accompanied by live instruments! This extraordinary event will also feature performances by Zgas, Poland's only two-time beatboxing champion.
Unity Tour 2011, a series of several-hour concert marathons in more than a dozen Polish clubs, offers ideal events for reggae, dancehall and hip-hop fans. Undisputed masters of their genres will share one stage! Their joint travels and concerts began with the desire to present a comprehensive picture of the most interesting contemporary Polish reggae and hip-hop, bringing its leading representatives together on one stage. The chosen artists are therefore among the most active, intriguing and popular, having brought freshness, new energy and frequent surprises to their respective genres for years.
The tour will therefore feature Abradab, co-founder of the legendary Kaliber 44, who changed the face of Polish hip-hop. After the group suspended activity, he began a solo career and released four albums. The latest, “Abradabing”, earned him a Fryderyk for Best Hip-Hop Album 2010. Accompanied by live instruments, Abradab will take everyone on a journey through, among other things, his greatest hits, now firmly established in the genre’s canon.
Mesajah will premiere several tracks from his latest solo album, “Jestem Stąd”, due out at the end of November, alongside songs from his first album, “Ludzie Prości”. The stage will also welcome Mesajah's original band, Natural Dread Killaz, the unrivalled Wrocław reggae group, performing with Riddim Bandits musicians, whose concerts deliver a powerful dose of energy.
The only woman among the tour's stars is Marika, known as the First Lady of Polish reggae and dancehall. Thanks to her, there will be plenty of sounds on the border between soul and R&B. She will be accompanied on stage by Spoko Armia. For dessert comes Poland's finest beatboxer, Zgas, who will demonstrate his technical skills and present material from his debut solo album, “Human Beatbox”.
