Tricky at Kultowa: trip-hop’s Bristol roots and music by the creator of “Maxinquaye”
Tricky brings trip-hop’s Bristol roots and the distinctive world of “Maxinquaye” to the Kultowa concert announcement. Reggae, hip-hop, post-punk and pop meet his recording experience with Massive Attack and the story of the city explored on “Knowle West Boy”.

Tricky will perform at Wrocław's Kultowa club on 7 November. The king of trip-hop, singer and voice of Massive Attack. A singer, composer and producer, actor and talent scout, but above all a legendary figure of the Bristol sound.
He made his debut with Wild Bunch, which later became Massive Attack. Together, they recorded the genre’s most important albums, “Blue Lines” and “Protection”. In 1995, his solo debut, “Maxinquaye”, brought enormous success. Today, he has 9 records to his name and collaborations with major figures on the scene. Bjork, his long-term partner, appeared on two albums, “Nearly Good” (1996) and “Pre-Millennium Tension”, while Tricky composes music for her. With PJ Harvey, he recorded “Broken Homes” for “Angels With Dirty Faces” (1998). “Blowback” features Anthony Kiedis and John Frusciante of Red Hot Chili Peppers, as well as Cyndi Lauper and Alanis Morissette. He discovered the talents of Martina Topley-Bird and Costanza Francavilla.

In 2008, Tricky returned in style with the excellent “Knowle West Boy”, regarded as his best album since his debut, “Maxinquaye”. The trip-hop scene’s enfant terrible returned in the best possible way: drawing on the most interesting strands of the previous 15 years of British music to tell contemporary, relevant stories. At the same time, he returned to his roots, seeking inspiration in the metropolitan chaos of his hometown. In an extraordinary melting pot, he blended echoes of post-punk, reggae, hip-hop and pure pop.
