Tinariwen in Wrocław: Tuareg guitars and “Tassili” featuring musicians from TV on the Radio
Tinariwen's music is the sound of the desert, the rhythm of traditional Tuareg music, African blues. The group's story begins in 1982 in a Tuareg camp in Libya, from where these guitar poets and spiritual rebels began their journey to the world's stages. Their compositions speak for freedom and autonomy for the people of the southern Sahara, forming one of the most extraordinary phenomena on today's musical map.

Tinariwen are the first band from this cultural background to use electric guitars. According to Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin and Thom Yorke of Radiohead, they have the potential to become the best rock band of our time.
Tinariwen’s first studio album, “The Radio Tisdas Sessions”, appeared on CD in 2002, although they had already made numerous amateur cassette recordings. “Amassakoul” (“Traveller”) brought international exposure and concerts worldwide, including Roskilde and appearances alongside Carlos Santana and The Rolling Stones. They gave a hugely enthusiastic Polish reception at Open’er in 2010 and now return for 2 special concerts.

In Wrocław, Tinariwen will present new songs from their fifth album, Tassili, due out in September. It features vocal contributions from American alternative-rock stars Tunde Adebimpe and Kyp Malone of TV On The Radio, alongside Wilco guitarist Nels Cline.
We invite you to watch the video for “Tenere Taqhim Tossam”, featuring guest musicians from TV ON THE RADIO. The single promotes the album mentioned above.
