The Dead Daisies in Wrocław: musicians from hard-rock bands at the live guitar celebration
Five mythical gods of hard rock will visit Wrocław on 1 May and join fans at Poland’s biggest guitar event! The Dead Daisies, comprising some of the world’s finest rock musicians, John Corabi (Mötley Crüe, The Scream), Marco Mendoza (Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake), Brian Tichy (Ozzy Osbourne, Foreigner), David Lowy (Red Phoenix, Mink) and Doug Aldrich (Whitesnake, Dio), will help break the Guitar Guinness World Record, now a Wrocław hallmark recognised across Europe, before playing a full concert for guitar fans. Polish audiences may remember their Przystanek Woodstock 2017 appearance, regarded as one of the festival’s best concerts!

The American-Australian collective, together for just four years, is a supergroup unlike any the world has seen: a community built on friendship and a love of real rock ’n’ roll!
The Dead Daisies’ appeal rests on more than top musicians’ reputations. Their fluid line-up has included almost twenty artists within a few years, among them Richard Fortus (Guns N’ Roses, The Psychedelic Furs), Dizzy Reed (Guns N’ Roses), Darryl Jones (The Rolling Stones, Sting), Charley Drayton (The Cult) and Jon Stevens (Noiseworks, INXS). This incredible crew redefined classic rock, creating a genuine identity and utterly unique sound.
They were brought together by a love of 1970s and 1980s hard rock. The Dead Daisies create soulful, accessible music: a perfect blend of the styles of The Faces, Bad Company and Foreigner, distinguished by powerful vocals, bluesy riffs, catchy choruses and, above all, irresistible melodies. Their performing career began explosively. Since 2013, the band have already released three excellent albums, with a fourth on the way; played countless concerts alongside major stars including ZZ Top, Aerosmith, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bad Company, Judas Priest, KISS, Whitesnake and Def Leppard; signed with SPV Records; and become the first American group to perform in Cuba after Barack Obama eased the sanctions that had been in place for six decades!
The rock ’n’ roll liberation The Dead Daisies brought to Cubans will now be shared by thousands of guitarists attempting to break the Guitar Guinness World Record!
In The Dead Daisies’ rock ’n’ roll pantheon, guitarist David Lowy, the project’s creator and leader, undoubtedly plays Zeus. The charismatic Australian is an excellent instrumentalist and an exceptionally colourful personality. Successful in business, he heads a political think tank and directs a medical institute specialising in idiopathic macular telangiectasia. Alongside all this, he is one of Australia’s finest aviators, regularly flying famous Second World War aircraft at air shows!
The Poseidon responsible for the deep bass sounds is Marco Mendoza, who has been part of the finest rock’n’roll line-ups for almost thirty years: Blue Murder, Thin Lizzy, Soul SirkUS, Whitesnake and Black Star Riders. Add collaborations with John Sykes, Black Sabbath's Bill Ward and the legendary Ted Nugent, and Mendoza's musical portfolio knocks out most contemporary rock bassists!
The rhythm section is completed by the band’s newest recruit, drummer Deen Castronovo. He is undoubtedly The Dead Daisies’ Hades: the mighty sound of his drums reaches into the bowels of the Earth! He honed his craft in the iconic band Journey, but his present skills come from working with the very best. The list is truly impressive: Revolution Saints, Bad English, Dr. Mastermind, Wild Dogs, Hole, Soul SirkUS, Ozzy Osbourne, Vasco Rossi, Steve Vai, Paul Rodgers, Matthew Ward, Marty Friedman and Fear Factory, among others.
The Apollo on vocals needs no introduction: John Corabi was discovered by Mötley Crüe's Tommy Lee and Nikki Sixx as they searched for a new singer after firing Vince Neil. Corabi visited Wrocław four years ago and helped with the Guinness Guitar Record attempt. This time he will not return alone: with The Dead Daisies, he will reveal the full range of his vocal talent!
The line-up is completed by one of today’s most spectacular guitarists, Doug Aldrich! This Hermes of the guitar has lent his talent to Whitesnake, Dio, Bad Moon Rising and House of Lords, among others, but it is with The Dead Daisies that his stock has reached stratospheric heights! He bought his first guitar in a supermarket at the age of 11. Today, he plays with Deep Purple’s Glenn Hughes and is one of the world’s most respected guitar teachers!
