Sizzla Kalonji at Centennial Hall: a first Polish concert with Jamaica’s The Fire House Crew

Sizzla Kalonji combines gentle reggae melodies with forceful dancehall expression. The Wroc Love Exclusive Stage preview at Centennial Hall announced his first Polish concert with Jamaica’s The Fire House Crew, alongside Polish performers.

The next Wroc Love Exclusive Stage will take place on 10 May 2008 at Wrocław’s Centennial Hall.

Following the enormous success of Gentleman's performance on 23 November 2007, it is time for a major star straight from Jamaica. At the organisers' special invitation, Sizzla Kalonji will come to the capital of Lower Silesia with The Fire House Crew. The stage will also welcome a selection of Polish artists presenting a broad spectrum of sounds, from hip-hop through reggae to dancehall.

Many consider Sizzla Kalonji the embodiment of musical genius. His artistic output bears this out: almost 53 full-length albums and countless singles in 13 years. A highly distinctive vocal tone makes him one of the world's most recognisable reggae musicians.

He is at home in almost any musical genre, as his albums have repeatedly demonstrated. He can sing cleanly in light, flowing reggae or jazz songs and shout his lines in dancehall. Sincerely devoted to Rasta philosophy, this ambassador of the Bobo Ashanti movement will visit our country to give his first, exclusive Polish concert.

Famous for exuberant performances, Sizzla will visit Wrocław on 10 May as part of Wroc Love Exclusive Stage. The artist will appear with The Fire House Crew, one of Jamaica's finest riddim bands.

Alongside Sizzla, we will see an outstanding selection of Polish artists on stage, including:

Riddimz Team — the debut performance by a new riddim band from the capital of Lower Silesia, formed by musicians from Wrocław's finest reggae bands — have invited singers especially for this concert: Bob One (known for performing with Częstochowa's Rub Pulse Sound System and Wrocław's Tumbao Riddim Band), Mesajah (one of the vocalists of Natural Dread Killaz), Junior Stress (Love Sen-C Music) and Bas Tajpan.

Vavamuffin are among Poland's most decorated reggae and dancehall artists, with performances both in Poland and at various locations across Europe to their name. They are cited as pioneers of a new style in Polish reggae.

Masala Sound System is a DJ collective playing music from regions around the world at its multicultural dance parties. Their work is primarily experimental music, combining tradition with modernity and a positive message with criticism of reality.

Jamal are currently one of Poland's most popular reggae and dancehall acts. They may have only one album to their name so far, but they work with artists from bands including Managga, Tumbao Riddim Band and Bakshish. The band are currently preparing their second album, due for release in spring 2008.

Abradab, a member of the now legendary Polish hip-hop group Kaliber 44, appears in a new form this time, presenting his solo material with a band.
