Shantel and Bucovina Club Orkestar at Woodstock: the Balkan rhythms of “Disko Partizani”
Shantel and Bucovina Club Orkestar give Balkan melodies a contemporary dance pulse. The Przystanek Woodstock announcement introduces the artist behind “Disko Partizani” through travel, klezmer influences and an open approach to music across genres.

Shantel, musical cosmopolitan, intercultural explorer and creator of cross-genre sounds, and the artist behind “Disko Partizani”, will perform at this year's Przystanek Woodstock. With Bucovina Club Orkestar, he plays the Main Stage in Kostrzyn nad Odrą on 3 August.
Shantel is an exceptional artist who has become one of Germany’s finest exports in recent years, earning international honours for albums combining traditional Balkan sounds with a klezmer feeling. Hits such as “Bucovina”, “Disko Partizani”, “Disko Boy” and “Citizen of Planet Paprika” have made him famous not only in his native Germany, but throughout Europe, including Turkey, where he has become a pop-culture icon.
Shantel’s vision is simple: pan-European music with worldwide potential. Everything appears on track, with regular visits to Greece, Italy, France, England, Turkey and former Yugoslav countries. His festival appearances include Switzerland’s Montreux Jazz, Denmark’s Roskilde, Germany’s Chiemsee Reggae Summer, England’s Dockville, Hungary’s Sziget, Belgium’s Couleur Cafe, Greece’s Cosmopolitan and Francofollies in La Rochelle.
Shantel is a cosmopolitan sound explorer, always open to new experiences and emotions for his musical mix. From the beginning, he rejected mainstream media and flashing cameras, focusing on music that spread online, reaching millions of YouTube plays. This year, he releases “Anarchy & Romance” and performs at Przystanek Woodstock in Kostrzyn nad Odrą, among other events, at the invitation of LIONSTAGE Management and the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity Foundation.
