Seven Kings at Wrocław’s guitar celebration: “Hey Joe” together and a guitar-record attempt

Seven Kings appears in the story of Wrocław’s guitar celebration and the shared attempt to play “Hey Joe”. The announcement also introduces Pablo Reyes and Gipsy Kings Family Reunited, connecting repertoire passed between generations with the idea of a large guitar orchestra.

As every year, we will meet in Wrocław on 1 May for another attempt to break the Guitar Guinness World Record, which has become the city’s calling card throughout Europe. Traditionally, Jimi Hendrix’s “Hey Joe” will ring out with the power of thousands of guitars. The first stars joining in this year will be flamenco virtuosos adored by audiences worldwide: the guitar kings of THE GIPSY KINGS Family Reunited.

This will be our thirteenth Guinness Guitar Record attempt, but Wrocław has held the world's highest totals for years. Last year we succeeded again, with 7344 guitars playing together in Wrocław's Market Square. Remember: just one more guitar is enough to make history once again! As every year, the world's largest guitar orchestra will be led by the event's creator, Leszek Cichoński.

THE GIPSY KINGS Family Reunited, one of the most guitar-centred families of our time, will join this year’s record attempt. Flamenco legend José Reyes began this lineage of outstanding musicians. In the sixties, his duo with the brilliant Manitas de Plata conquered international audiences. They earned the respect of the era’s leading artists and collaborated with figures such as Salvador Dalí. José’s sons, the Reyes brothers — their surname meaning “kings” — founded the legendary GIPSY KINGS.

Today, the youngest generation inherits the musical legacy of the creators of hits such as “Bamboleo” and “Djobi Djoba”. Under the direction of Pablo Reyes, one of Gipsy Kings' founding brothers, THE GIPSY KINGS Family Reunited will perform at Wrocław's Thanks Jimi Festival.

Their arrival in Wrocław is an incredible event, because the group includes the Romani music scene's finest artists and true guitar masters. Spanish guitars will come into play, offering a chance not only to admire virtuoso craftsmanship but to feel the wonderful atmosphere of a guitar fiesta yourself.

Wrocław’s Guinness Guitar Record welcomes a broad audience, from young people to families with children. The organisers hope to bring together as many lovers as possible of the world’s most wonderful instrument: the guitar!
