Salif Keita, an afropop star of international stature, will open this year’s WrocLove Fest, held as part of the Wrocław Day celebrations.

The international world music star will give his only Polish concert on 17 June at the White Stork Synagogue, a venue familiar to lovers of ethnic sounds.

His musical inspirations encompass rock, blues, jazz, funk and traditional West African music, all expressed through a remarkably skilful combination of traditional instruments and contemporary electronic sounds. Salif Keita's concerts are a true feast of wonderful sounds, energising dance rhythms and colours straight from the heart of Africa. His life story is as fascinating and extraordinary as the music he creates.

Salif Keita travelled a long road to fulfil his dream of becoming a musician. As a person with albinism from West African Mandinka culture, he faced constant condemnation and exclusion. In 1967, he abandoned his previous life to pursue music.

After several years playing clubs, he joined Les Ambassadeurs, one of West Africa's most important bands. Salif Keita spent many years among the leading representatives of the 'Golden voice of Africa', becoming a musical inspiration for successive African generations.

Throughout his musical life, he has sought to bring peace to the world. Salif combines his distinctive voice with elements of rock, funk and jazz, as well as traditional sounds from the remote corners of West Africa.

The Acoustic Tour reflects Salif Keita's entire musical career, bringing together classics from his impressive repertoire. After several years exploring new styles and mixing his music with electronica, he now returns to a more intimate, acoustic format. Returning to his roots, he offers a superb retrospective of his whole career.

Accompanied by four musicians on guitar, kora, n'goni and percussion, Salif Keita presents an intimate event, drawing the audience into the heart of the modern Mandinka soul.
