Robert Glasper Experiment: the Grammy winner’s jazz project at Ethno Jazz Festival
Robert Glasper Experiment feature in the Ethno Jazz Festival announcement with music connecting jazz piano, soul and hip-hop. The pianist’s experience includes work with Q-Tip, Norah Jones and Mos Def, showing different ways for keyboards to meet production and the voice.

Ethno Jazz Festival is honoured to invite you to a concert by world-renowned, Grammy-winning pianist Robert Glasper and ROBERT GLASPER EXPERIMENT!
Following an enthusiastically received concert at Jazz Nad Odrą festival in April last year, the artist returns to Wrocław. On 3 November in the Gothic Hall at Stary Klasztor, he will perform a concert promoting his latest album, “Black Radio 2”.
In February 2013, Robert Glasper won the Grammy for Best R&B Album for “Black Radio”.
In August 2012, critics from the leading jazz magazine “Down Beat” named Glasper and his jazz trio a “Rising Star”.
Glasper has six solo albums to his name. He has collaborated with stars including Erykah Badu, Kanye West and Jeremy Pelt.
“Black Radio 2” features the cream of internationally renowned vocalists: Common, Patrick Stump, Brandy, Jill Scott, Dwele, Marsha Ambrosius, Anthony Hamilton, Faith Evans, Norah Jones, Snoop Dogg, Lupe Fiasco, Luke James, Emeli Sandé, Lalah Hathaway and Malcolm-Jamal Warner.
Robert Glasper has long had one foot in jazz and the other in hip-hop and R&B. He worked with rapper Q-Tip, playing keyboards on his 2008 album “The Renaissance” and co-writing the single “Life Is Better”, which also features Norah Jones. Glasper is also musical director of Mos Def’s live band and has toured with multi-platinum-selling R&B artist Maxwell.
The Los Angeles Times once wrote that “the list of jazz pianists who can slip references to J Dilla into a Thelonious Monk cover is short, but few jazz pianists are Robert Glasper”, adding that “he is equally at home in the worlds of hip-hop and jazz” and praising the organic way in which “he builds bridges between these two musical strongholds”.
In Wrocław, ROBERT GLASPER EXPERIMENT will perform with: Robert Glasper – piano, Derrick Hodge – bass, Mark Colenburg – drums, Casey Benjamin – sax/vocoder/synth
