Redinho and En2ak at Puzzle: talkbox, funk and Wrocław beats open City Sounds

The official opening of the new City Sounds concert season will take place at Wrocław's Puzzle club on 6 September. The autumn edition of the Wrocław event series begins with the music of two talented young producers, Redinho and en2ak.

Redinho, also known as Tom Calvert, is a British producer and rising star of London label Numbers, home to names such as Jamie xx, Rustie, Deadboy and Hudson Mohawke. He is also a regular on BBC Radio 1’s late-night shows, where his music first appeared during Mary Anne Hobbs’s time at the station. Fascinated by the funk sounds of the 1980s, he expresses that passion in live sets centred on the talkbox. Redinho has released two mini-albums, including his best-known work, “Bare Blips”, whose eight tracks marry every shade of electronic music. One critic described it as sounding like “a Commodore 64 thrown into the drum of a survival-horror-dubstep tumble dryer”. The Londoner is no stranger to experimental sounds, as his latest single, “Stay Together”, demonstrates.

From the new season, City Sounds also champions fresh Polish sounds. September guest en2ak is an exceptionally gifted Wrocław producer, known to independent-music fans from Przaśnik. He records for U Know Me Records, hip-hop label JuNouMi’s younger sister specialising in progressive instrumental music. He combines hip-hop, R&B and new electronics, sonically close to artists on Flying Lotus’s Brainfeeder.
